maybe okinawans and sardinians just have really good genetics.

and every ethnicity processes food differently. give a pima or inuit a high carb diet, and they'll become obese and diabetic.

High Fat Low Carb diet is the way to go my friends

Japanese are notoriously healthy, partly because they are very health-conscious but also because of their diet. If you've ever read those food from Japan threads you may have noticed that the typical Japanese diet has four staples: fish, vegetables, rice, and noodles. It seems like eating meat in Japan is a little luxurious because it's a small island nation with a huge fishing industry and restricted farmland. In fact I read that until recently only only people like feudal lords in Japan were allowed to eat meat because the supply was limited.

Basically all of the effects from plant-based diets can be attributed to mild starvation and protein/methionine restriction. It's a well-established fact in gerontology that there is a tradeoff between performance and longevity. A diet that maximizes growth, reproductive fitness, immune and cognitive functioning in youth will not maximize lifespan and fight off diseases of aging.

Hahahahaha.

So we have a diet which is high in fiber. Something most of the west (95%+) is deficient in. And devoid of saturated fat and cholesterol (two things associated with many diseases.) And the only reason this diet promotes longevity is because it makes you less virile in your youth? That is some grade A self-delusion.

What you are talking about only pertains to calorie consumption. If I eat 3000 kcals from a plant-based diet my body will age faster than someone eating 2000 kcals from an animal based diet. None of the blue zones are deficient in protein. They're just not eating 3-4x the amount they need like the rest of us.

I would've understood if you said some of the effects can to attributes to methionine restriction. But the fact that they avoid all of the major non-communicable diseases isn't to be scoffed at under the guise of a high-performance youth.

You don't have to only eat plants to not be deficient in fiber. You don't have to only eat plants to keep SFA intake and SFA:UFA ratios acceptable. You do have to only eat plants however to keep IGF-1 mTOR etc down and PGC-1 alpha, FoxO, NRF2, AMPK, Sirt1 etc up. It's not just calories.

>It's not just calories.
I agree in a way that was my overall point. Longevity doesn't have to do with mild starvation.

Quints speak truth.

Think of clean, whole foods and then drop a few random things like legumes and white potatoes and then you'll have paleo.

Starvation doesnt have to be equivalent to caloric restriction. You can mimic starvation on a cellular level pharmaceutically using eg mtor inhibitors like rapamycin. This is basically whats happening on an attenuated level when you consume a lot of hormetic phytochemicals and protein with low biological value in the form of plant based food. It then makes metabolic sense that a shift towards defense and cellular protection mechanisms occurs instead of anabolism and with that comes increased lifespam,

let me just say nasa does not have a rule of thumb of any sort when it comes the these topics unfortunately
when it comes to health nasa has nothing ... the next best thing is historic evidence not modern day mumble jumble ... yeah oriental text hold the best knowledge today
that being said a macrobiotic diet rich in whole foods mainly starches and such are what keep the human organism healthy
sure you want vanity (a fit body) to be easy enough to achieve while still being a slave to an unhealthy diet /fit/ has those answers READ THE STICKY
truth be told fitezens are dolts who will eat dogshit daily for looks, ready to be cut apart at the hands of a surgeon once the diseases take over top kek
reminder heavy doses of the meat and dairy combination are as bad as smoking 5 packs a day or drinking 3 fifths of vodka the shit is beyond unhealthy

In studies like this they'll usually have a control group of people from the area who moved elsewhere and started eating differently.
Okinawans on an American diet don't live as long.

Those are three separate groups as hard as it may be to believe. And since you're so clued up on paradoxes with meat eating populations explain how southern Italians are so healthy despite eating refined cabs in the for of pasta for centuries?
