If you're behind the counter, it's part of your job to facilitate traffic and also direct customers. If they don't know what they want, directly engage them. "Do you know what you're kind of looking for?" "Do you have any questions?".

By engaging them, you're either helping them make a split decision, forcing them to make one, legitimately helping them with questions (menus can be confusing if they're structured badly) or giving yourself justifiable clearance to have another customer circumvent them.

When I'm the customer and I don't know what I want, I try to be aware of others around me and always let the immediate person behind me go first if they're ready to order.

My person grief is the people who walk up and say "I don't know what I want, what's good?". The ambiguity of that statement is so frustrating because you are providing me with absolutely 0 information by which to provide you with advice that *may* satisfy you. And then when you give a recommendation, they shoot in the opposite direction.

I'm always indecisive because I *never* order fast food. It's usually a case of I'm on a road trip or I'm in the mall's food court and am too hungry to wait until I get home or some such. >Things can and should be set up so you don't ever need to inconvenience other people.

Yeah, but that's not the way the world works. Companies, employees, and even your fellow customers don't normally care that much about inconveniencing people.
There's a drive thru mexican place we go to occasionally that makes great food, but it takes forever if they're making things fresh, which they usually are. But that's not our fault. Once, when we ordered (and it was a simple order, 2 burritos, 1 carne asada fries, 3 horchatas), it took so long because they were making everything fresh, that the car behind us started flashing their lights at us and then drove around us and flipped us off. And the wait had nothing to do with us, we knew what we wanted and ordered right away. That's just one personal example though.
I still say people should check menus online before they go somewhere. And if a place doesn't have an online menu, pick up a to-go menu when your there so you can look at it at home next time.

Ever opened the lid of a cup of iced tea that's been sitting a week at room temperature? Coffee is almost exactly the same.

How about a slice of pizza? Even in a sealed container, would you fucking eat it after a week unrefrigerated?

You're drinking mold water.
