I've never shared pics but I've taken a few of things I made which turned out okay. Looking back I'd say I'm a much better cook than when I took those.

Just today I almost took a pic of a rava dosa that turned out perfect but I was reminded of the pic I took of French style scrambled eggs on toast.

I probably won't take another pic till I get a better camera and cookware. And better natural light in my kitchen.

I've taken thousands of pictures of food. Most of them were to show my old internet friends (just 2 or 3) for conversation. A lot of them were also just to post here on /ck/ over the past 6 years or so. I didn't post them all, but a lot of them I did (as the trip CookMe).

But I often liked to do it as more of an actual "food photography" perspective. Pic related, for example. Never posted this one until now.

I'll never approve of people who take pictures of their food at a restaurant. My ex would whip out her phone and take pics whenever we were anywhere remotely interesting. Maybe it's my 4chan-standard social awkwardness, but it embarrassed me. Her instagram is full of food she cooked, which is always delicious and beautiful, and I wholeheartedly approve of that.

I take pics of food that I make if it's a special project, like pic related. It's almost always to post here, or toshow to my parents that I don't eat frozen hamburgers 24/7.

I used to take pics of my food a lot. It's a nice to know how to take pics of food because it really forces you to take notice of how important prep, presentation and lighting are to how appetizing a dish looks.

I deleted most of my old food pics because they were horrible but I kept this one so that I can always compare bad prep/presentation/lighting...

I've only recently taken up cooking as a hobby, and I always take a photo once it's done to post on my blog. It's more to record that I'm not a complete failure at life skills than anything else. The lighting in my kitchen is shit, so my photos don't always look the best.
