Seems like such a weird thing to do, but lots of things people share are just as bizzare. I get it if you made something and are proud (I don't know what...bday cake?), or maybe you grew some pretty produce.

Not often, but I travel a lot, so as tradition I take a picture of the first (real) meal I eat when I get into a new country. Pic related, first lunch from my trip to Paris last March.

I once took a pic of a BBQ chicken pizza I made. I had only been living on my own for about a year and it was my first attempt.
This was so long ago that I took the pic on a disposable camera BECAUSE PHONES DIDNT HAVE CAMERAS.

I've never shared pics but I've taken a few of things I made which turned out okay. Looking back I'd say I'm a much better cook than when I took those.

Just today I almost took a pic of a rava dosa that turned out perfect but I was reminded of the pic I took of French style scrambled eggs on toast.

I probably won't take another pic till I get a better camera and cookware. And better natural light in my kitchen.

Of course I don't rely on it completely, but stuff like Trip Advisor most only is about this one time an old fuck came in and got pissed they got a takeaway cup instead of the porcelain and they're just never coming back! Nearly no images or details on the food itself besides "yummehh!".

Why hate food photography? We can't just rely on YouTube screenshots, Getty Images, and sad frogs to enjoy do we?

I do it all the time when I have something to take a picture of.

People who take photos of their food are like people who hold up their phones to record live shows. It's not enough for these sheep to just enjoy what's in front of them. They need to make sure everyone in their sock network knows they're enjoying it. And you know what the worst part is? Spending time "sharing" shit with your "friends" actually takes away from your enjoyment of what you're doing. If you could just put the fucking phone down and eat a meal without telling your distant relations you're eating, you would know this.

I have a friend who's lactose intolerant and I like to send pictures of food he can't eat to him.

I worked at a bar and every now and again when bringing over cocktails with sparklers and shit the customer would ask if we could take them back, re-light them, and then bring it over again just so they have their camera's ready to take pictures of it arriving and act shocked all over again.

I used to do it occasionally back in 2009~2010, a couple times at restaurants and some of my own creations. Lost the drive to take photos in general when I became a depressed alcoholic adult.

Now there is no reason to do anything anymore.

If you're excited about the food, talk about it with your friends later. You look like an asshole taking pictures in a restaurant and then posting them online.

I've taken thousands of pictures of food. Most of them were to show my old internet friends (just 2 or 3) for conversation. A lot of them were also just to post here on /ck/ over the past 6 years or so. I didn't post them all, but a lot of them I did (as the trip CookMe).

But I often liked to do it as more of an actual "food photography" perspective. Pic related, for example. Never posted this one until now.

I only take photos of food when I go full artsy-tartsy and do stuff like pic related.

One time when I cooked lobster tail for the first time. I've never been a good cook, so I was really just proud it didn't come out hideous. Cooked it with hilariously thin rib-eyes that looked much thicker at the store. I took the pics so I could show my dad that I didn't fuck it up.

I do it all the time. No shame.

Not really but I did for some special occasions, like at my sister's wedding and one time when my boss surprised me with some birthday cupcakes. I also took a surprisingly good photo of some aranchini the day I got my first smartphone.

I do all the time, I try to do it when nobody is looking though, you may recognize me as "the guy with the shitty black speckle paint counter that does not cook well", or "guy who eats at taco trucks way too much".

I'll never approve of people who take pictures of their food at a restaurant. My ex would whip out her phone and take pics whenever we were anywhere remotely interesting. Maybe it's my 4chan-standard social awkwardness, but it embarrassed me. Her instagram is full of food she cooked, which is always delicious and beautiful, and I wholeheartedly approve of that.

I take pics of food that I make if it's a special project, like pic related. It's almost always to post here, or toshow to my parents that I don't eat frozen hamburgers 24/7.

I always take pictures of the food at my uni canteen, and sometimes when I eat out.
I never post them online or show them anybody though.

I used to take pics of my food a lot. It's a nice to know how to take pics of food because it really forces you to take notice of how important prep, presentation and lighting are to how appetizing a dish looks.

I've only recently taken up cooking as a hobby, and I always take a photo once it's done to post on my blog. It's more to record that I'm not a complete failure at life skills than anything else. The lighting in my kitchen is shit, so my photos don't always look the best.
