Dunno about Whataburger, but there is no best time at McDonald's. They're constantly dropping new batches as the last ones sell out. You either go the unsalted route, take the luck of the draw, or go inside and stand around and watch until they drop the new batch and order right then.

Whataburger is the GOAT fast food joint. Life has been suffering since they left Mexico.

Ex-McDonald's till-lackey here: You are SOL for fresh fries. They're pretty much always gonna be hot since we were told to do food & fries last, but unless it's a rush we put fries down only every 20 minutes or so. You pretty much will either have to ask for no salt or wait for them to plonk another batch in the bin.

During rushes we had someone on fries constantly putting in new batches.

Is it just me or is whattaburger ketchup simply the best ketchup in the world. I don't know what makes it so good but i could eat that by the spoonful.

The best time to get fresh fries is during a lunch or dinner rush. Even if they don't make them specifically for you, the constant flow of people means they will be making new batches of fries non-stop.
