So I don't have a mixer and I was starting to make cream chese mints when I realized you needed an electric mixer for it. I've been kneeding the "dough" with my hands, is this going to be a disaster?

pic related, it so far.

Fuck you, I know what they're talking about. It's a staple of every holiday table or wedding, or reunion, everyone fucking loves cream cheese mints, you ignoramus.

>>6500556
You should be able to knead the dough by hand just fine, OP. It will surely take longer to produce the smooth, creamy consistency you want, but my grandmother used to make them by hand, so if she could do it, so can you.

In addendum to my previous post, I have to say that those mints look too thick, you should have made them thinner. Other than that though, the colors look right on, and I'm sure they taste like they should. But they should be thinner than that. You've heard the term "wafer thin mint", right? Exactly that.

The recipe i was reading made them a little thick like that, maybe not as thick but it's pretty thick

>> No.6500805

>>6500803
it was a recipe i found online:

-1 8oz block of cream cheese
-2lb bag of confectioners sugar
-any abstract that was either peppermint, vanilla, or something else, peppermint was used for me
>food coloring
-granulated sugar to top

it said to keep adding powdered sugar until the cheese wasnt sticky and no matter how much i put in it was still sticky. i think i put in too much powdered sugar so it's weird

I've never used a mixer to make cream cheese mints in my life. In fact, the easiest method is to forgo the bowl, put the ingredients in a plastic bag, and mix them that way. It balls in the end anyways, so it works great.

Also, use a small rubber mold to make them pretty. It also helps control the size (smaller is better). I prefer coconut or almond flavoring to mint or peppermint, too.

I know they are old-fashioned, but I'm surprised by the number of people that didn't know these exist. My family will get together and make a bunch for weddings, showers, and other gatherings still. I know even russell stovers used to make commercial ones (not anymore), so they're not out of the ordinary.
