Any of y'all ever make Shakshuka? I've never tried it but it looks fucking delicious and I'm thinking about making some tomorrow. Is there a specific hot sauce to add to it? Also, what kind of bread do I eat with it?

I've made ghetto shakshuka like that before, but you should fry some real peppers with your onions before dumping the tomatoes on

I don't know what "real" shakshuka is like, but what I make is really great.

>Fry a bunch of onion in butter, add cayenne
>add a cup of marinara sauce and reduce for a bit
>add two eggs, cover and poach
>go grab some chives from the garden for garnish

Easy as balls.

I make it all the time, you can basically do whatever you want with it and it will turn out pretty decent. Generally the base is going to be onions, garlic and bell peppers with some sort of tomato added to it. The tomato can be fresh, canned or pureed/tomato sauce. You can add fresh or dried chili peppers to make it hot or just splash some tabasco or sriracha in if you want to keep it simple.

Good to hear that it's a fairly flexible recipe. I was a little worried about screwing it up. Gonna go with tobasco for hot sauce I think.

I've never made it, but I get it every time I'm in Santa Monica at Misfit.

I just got a food boner.

Damnit.

It's pretty good, although extremely trendy

I mean yeah, it's a tasty, relatively healthy breakfast but it's not the *tips clubmasters* meme food it's all cracked up to be

Had it in Israel , pretty good :^)

Arab here
It's very simple to make. You can't fuck it up unless you're retarded. Don't over complicate it.

-Heat a round deep skillet with a fuckload of olive oil
-Chop 1 onion, 3 cloves of garlic, 5 tomatoes, and half a jalapeño (if you like it spicy. For the love of God, or Allah do not use hot sauce. The vinegar in it kills the dish)
-sauté onions until translucent
-turn down heat and add garlic
-let it sit for a couple of minutes
-add jalapeño
-sauté until cooked
-add tomatoes
-close lid and keep on medium heat
-leave for 5-10 minutes until cooked and liquidy (you could also use canned diced tomatoes if you don't want to wait that long makes the process easier. Just do the same thing but wait till the tomatoe heats through since it is already cooked)
-make little pockets in the tomatoe for the eggs
-put eggs in pockets
-turn down heat and cover immediately
-keep lid on until egg is cooked to desired gooeyness

Serve with kaak the bread in pic related it's a sesame bread. We have these kinds of traditions breakfasts 3x a week with falafel, hummus, cheese, olives, pickles, lebane, etc.
Also earl grey tea with dried sage makes it 10/10

Looks like someone took a can of refried beans, spread that in a pan, took a can of rotel, but that over the refried beans, then broke four eggies over it, then sprinked a bit of cilantro on top.

That's pretty lame.

/ck/ sahib,

Any suggestions for zatar? Have it with eggs and bread/feta/olive oil currently.

If you have authentic pita bread open it and base it with olive oil, then sprinkle zaatar and spread labane on it. My mom use to make me these sandwiches for school very yummy.
Or just simple bread, olive oil, and zaatar.
Put very good quality olive oil and zaatar in separate bowls. Dip bread in olive oil then zaatar in the pic I posted we have that with our breakfasts its traditional
