I"m a straight, white, normal looking, male. I do not care for their "good service" It' just another form of marketing. I'd rather have them get my order right and cut the bullshit of "hi, hello and welcome to chick fil-a, eat mhore chiken." There's no humanism when it comes to the "extra" service they provide. However to their credit, chik fil-a has always got my order right (compared to Wendy's which seems to somehow always fuck it up.

What grinds my gears at chik fil a is they tend to me selective. Ask those people over there if they want refills, how their meal was, and if they can take their garbage but don't even walk up to me once.

I've said it before but at the end of the day this place is mascaraeding around as something it's not. It's a fast food join with a mediocre chicken sandwich that is worth eating at every so often.

Chick fil a employee here.

I'll admit I'm incredibly aware of how frankly weird we are with how nice we are, all the way down to "my pleasure".

It sucks because I say it so much at work that whenever someone says Thank you outside of work I end up saying it. Gives away where I work right away.

I try to do my best to leave guests alone in the dining room when they're eating or talking, and try to only come over when I see you're just about done eating, but the thing is when we've run out of tables to clean, trashes to rotate, condiments to stock, we really have nothing else to do.

Not 100%; most stores are run really well. I ate at the one in UIUC's student union and it sucked. This was around the time that the student body had heard about "zomfg someone at the company doesn't suck cock!!!" and did some protests at the place, so that might have affected the very few remaining workers' attitudes, though. I think there were only two people working the place when I went there; I am sort of guessing that all the students who had jobs there quit from peer pressure or something.

Yes, they do. They employ gay people too. The owner just doesn't approve of gay marriage. You can be gay in a Chick-fil-a, have gay sex in the bathrooms and have your gay marriage wedding reception in a Chick-fil-a, but you can't get the owner of the company to pinch your husband's butt. This is literally what people are so BTFO about. Thought crime. Yet the SJWs are so good at getting their message of "boycott" out there, that people don't even know what the fuck the boycott is about. I asked a cousin of mine and he thought it was because they aren't open on Sundays. Nope. It's about thought crime. In this country, you're not free to have politically incorrect thoughts anymore.

Remember that the CEO of Firefox was fired because he donated to a Christian charity once in his life, and of course Christians don't support gay marriage.

We need to support Chick-fil-a and other companies with values because the SJWs are spreading lies about them to try to ruin this country. SJWs won't be happy until every private business is out of business and the only food distribution is via government bread lines. Don't let this terrifying reality come to happen.

Got interviewed for a job there, and the manager explained that customer service positions (cashier, etc) paid more and were more desirable because they are generally less work than cooking. It's a privilege to work at the counter; they have interaction down to a formula, and drill it into every new employee (make eye contact 3 seconds before the customer comes forward, smile, ask them how their day is in a specific way, etc). He also said that they can get cut after a single customer complaint (or even a less than great review on a customer survey), and will be replaced with any of the other billion young qt girls who are lined up for cashier position.
Their thing is that they're a "step above fast food" and want to create such an atmosphere; that's why the service people are expected to adopt an attitude more like that of a polite waitress at a nice restaurant, as opposed to a subhuman McDonald's worker who grunts and shoves your bag at you.

I have no idea how people think this affects their ability to make a chicken sandwich, but by supporting Chick-Fil-A, you are telling the anti-American cultural marxists in this country that it's OK to have your own beliefs, and that you support our First Amendment right to individual religious freedom. What the anti-American cultural marxists want is for everyone to be an atheist homosexual, and if you diverge from their narrative of degeneracy and depravity then they label you "politically incorrect" and you become a target for their hatred, which albeit can't accomplish much on its own, but they have agents in the mass media, and if their targets fail to bend to their will, then political pressure is applied, and sometimes the target's life is ruined, as happened with the former CEO of Firefox.

Beyond the homophobe thing there's the fact that the company does try to maintain a Christian culture, all the way down to not being open on Sundays. So I can't even buy a homophobic chicken sandwich whenever I want one because not only does god hate fags, but he doesn't want me eating Chick-fil-A on Sunday.

I'm all for people believing whatever they want, but if it inconveniences me I will hold it against them. And I'll take that into account when it comes time to make my decisions about where I'll spend my money.

Their equally Christian brethren at In-N-Out manage to proselytize, but they do so in small print on the bottom of the drink cups and wrappers, putting nobody out in the process. Seems like a much smarter way to mix your religion with your fast food business, if you feel you absolutely have to do so.

There are plenty of products I won't buy because I think the companies that make them are shitty corporate citizens, and I'd rather not give a shitty corporate citizen a penny of my money if I can help it.

If anything my feelings about this have intensified as I've gotten older and become more aware of the options available to me. After all, it's my money, and I don't have to settle for the default options if the fail to please me.

Part of what makes the character of the alienated, disaffected young man looking at the expectations of the society around him and finding it all to be bullshit is something most of us can relate to. This guy would have been a hippie in the late 60's, a punk in the 80's or an emo kid in the late 90's or a /b/tard in the 2000's. But at the start of the 1950's there was nothing for him to do but sit and whine about growing pubes, wishing he could return to the safety of childhood.

And as hateful a character as he is, every one of us can relate to this:

""We always had the same meal on Saturday nights at Pencey. It was supposed to be a big deal, because they gave you steak. I'll bet a thousand bucks the reason they did that was because a lot of guys' parents came up to school on Sunday, and old Thurmer probably figured everybody's mother would ask their darling boy what they had for dinner last night, and he'd say, 'steak.' What a racket. You should've seen the steaks. They were these little hard, dry jobs that you could hardly even cut."

You can't be American and not have choked down a shitty steak that was supposed to be special just because it was a fucking steak, and is supposed to be a big deal. Part of what makes the character so hateful is that you can't be an American and not relate to him at least a little.

>The issue I had was the tone and word usage was almost identical

Swell, so I'm a natural writer as good as the crackpot who wrote Catcher in the Ryebread.

I will meet you part way. I was from a big city and moved several years ago for a job to a decent sized but much smaller city in another state in the heartland. I was caught off guard on the kindness of people. They would as you mention say "good morning" but they would often go further - damn near giving the shirt off their back and without asking for anything in return. I've adapted and adopted to that way of life. I quite enjoy it but I can also differentiate between what's genuine and what's in the employee handbook. There's no crime in being courteous at a fast food restaurant, it's their corporate culture but it's also part of their marketing schtick and in your case and many others, it works like a charm. It's a similar concept that Cracker Barrel and their down home theme has. That being said, it won't stop me from occasionally eating at either restaurant, it just allows me to be conscious of the subconscious.

At the end of the day, these are big businesses. Millions of dollars are at stake. The smile and hello is the first line of defense in keeping these operations purring. Other businesses use this as a tool in their toolbox. Chik fila executes it so well- to the point where they standout above the rest.

Agreed. For me Chik fila is the complete opposite of an experience at Wendy's. At either place, the fries have enough salt to increase my blood pressure. There's no reason to make that go up any higher from the stress of grabbing a quick bite to eat when the sandwich order is wrong, the fries are cold, and the syrup is out/off in the coke machine. Chik fila does a good job at preventing these all with the hint of southern charm. Wendy's not so much.

You are free to not buy chicken sandwiches there. However, when you participate in a mass boycott - and lets' face it, participating in a boycott is not the same thing as 'not buying sandwiches from them' - and the SOLE reason behind the boycott is the other person's religious beliefs, then you are sending a clear message that you do not believe in people's First Amendment rights. Don't try to weasel your way out of it; this is the reality of the situation. Homosexual couples have no right to the same tax breaks as are given to married couples, but you don't hear conservatives labeling gays as "thought criminals" in the same way that liberals do about those who hold religious beliefs that don't mesh with their narrative. The irony here is that in some countries, atheists are the ones who get punished for what they believe in. The fact that you are able to enjoy such freedom to express your beliefs in America is due to the First Amendment, and if you don't support that wholeheartedly, then you don't support it at all. Freedom of Religion doesn't let you pick and choose which "approved" religions get to avoid persecution. That would be exactly the same as the medieval style culture of where the first Americans fled from, or modern Muslim countries. If you support that, then you are un-American.

You have no right to be served food. Perhaps instead of getting your food a restaurant, you would prefer to get your food from a Soviet bread line, or our modern equivalent, EBT card?

If you're having to eat fast food on a day when you don't even have to go to work, maybe you should be worried about more pressing issues in your own life than worrying about the life of someone whom you don't even know who said some things you don't agree with.

This all the way.

In MA, respectable liquor stores close at 6 on Sundays. They used to not even open on Sundays.

One time I was invited to a friend's place last minute and went out to pick up some wine at 6:30. Had to go to 3 liquor stores before I found one that was open. It was a little dump run by a paki.

I'll accept that. Not a big fan of "American values" to begin with. One very un-American value I hold is that businesses should not be granted the same rights as people. People have freedom of religion, but I don't see how that applies to businesses. I would never discriminate against people based on religion. I will discriminate against businesses based upon it if I dislike their values/politics, or find them the slightest bit annoying. Because where I spend my money is very much my own business.

Typical questions were things like "do you smoke," "do you stay up late," "do you wake up early," and "do you value studying over partying?" However, there were a couple questions which kept popping up, just asked in different ways. The most common question, which was re-asked about a dozen times, went something like this,

>Are you OK with the fact that somebody may exist who disagrees with you and whose mind you may never be able to change so that they agree with you?

Before immigration was reformed, we used to actually have standards for who we let live here, mainly we were looking for upstanding citizens who would be able to adjust to white American society.

>b-but muh ethnic food
It's so sad that this is the biggest benefit you can think of, when there are so, so many negatives.

>Diversity and social trust
>Harvard professor of political science Robert D. Putnam conducted a nearly decade long study how diversity affects social trust. He surveyed 26,200 people in 40 American communities, finding that when the data were adjusted for class, income and other factors, the more racially diverse a community is, the greater the loss of trust. People in diverse communities "don't trust the local mayor, they don't trust the local paper, they don't trust other people and they don't trust institutions," writes Putnam.[97] In the presence of such ethnic diversity, Putnam maintains that:
>"[W]e hunker down. We act like turtles. The effect of diversity is worse than had been imagined. And it's not just that we don't trust people who are not like us. In diverse communities, we don't trust people who do look like us."

The only ignorance is such a statement as you just made. They don't have any kind of anti-gay policy in the store. The ownership just personally doesn't agree with gay marriage, which isn't anywhere close to the same thing.

I don't know the details, but everyone at those camps is there voluntarily, so it's not exactly some kind of unethical torture camp. And no, it's not "a bit different from having your own opinion." Why do you care about what people do with their own money? Would you rather the government confiscate all of their earnings and redistribute the wealth to poor people?

It goes both ways, dumbass. Read up on the Nigerians living in Tokyo. They cause all kinds of problems and there's not even any white people involved. The issue isn't that the majority group is "racist." The issue is that there are many cultures living together where historically they have not lived in close proximity. If you want an example with no light skinned people involved at all, look at the recent division of North and South Sudan. They hated each other so much that they formed their own separate countries. But I'm sure you'll find a way to blame whites for this.

There is such a thing as two cultures that have low compatibility. For example, if you think that you could live the same way you do now, if you lived in a majority Muslim country, then think again. They actually execute people for the crime of homosexuality there. If it's possible for Western and Middle Eastern cultures to be incompatible, then maybe, JUST MAYBE, it's possible for ghetto blacks and middle class whites to have different, incompatible cultures.

going to say two things

never seen a black person working there and i've been to probably 8-10 different chick fil a's in my life

they won't hire a ghetto person

i don't see many uninspired 30 year olds that hate life working there

the teenage and 20 year olds that work there generally don't hate life yet, and the older managers seem to be more motivated than most fast food places

also they don't seem to hire many fat people

that's my take on that

I thought it was less and I read the book not long ago.

That book seriously didn't stick with me. The character was very well made and all, I don't think you're supposed to like him, not a lot of people do, and that's what makes him fascinating, but very annoying nonetheless. I congratulate the writer on that one but even Buster Casey on Rant was more likeable.

Best part is how the words "FUCK YOU" being written on the wall and the teacher rubbing his hair made him sperg out. Made me lose my shit.

I live in Tokyo. The vast majority of the Nigerians are backed by Yakuza members who pay their expenses and bring them over from Africa because they think its cool to have black security guards for their clubs (I've heard it described like the clubs in Las Vegas).

The majority do not cause problems, since its not in their interest to be sent back to Africa on their own dime and they do not want to lose their well paying jobs that they use to send money back to their families back in Africa. They can be pushy, but its literally their job to get people into the club, and they make their money based on the number of people they bring in.

If you actually just talk to them and tell them you're not interested, they are normally knowledgeable about the area and are happy just to talk to someone since they know its a shitty job that causes people to dislike them.

The ones that do run the scam (and its a small number) run it because their Yakuza boss wants them to run it.

Stop talking out your ass about shit you don't know.

Actually, it's a way for a business to be polite to its employees, by giving them some guaranteed time off to spend resting or being with their families or whatever.

As opposed to all the whining you see here from service employees bitching about how their manager told them they have to work on Thanksgiving Day because HUGE SALES DAY!!!
