> Working at a restaurant on Mothers Day

You shall vent in this thread

>> No.6493379

I wait tables, and was stoked for the extra business. My managers over-scheduled and I was told to go home when I showed up. I managed to get a 4-hour shift out of somebody and made good money for how long I was on the floor, but I was scheduled to work for at least 10 hours. Shit was lame.

>> No.6493381

Unless you work at an understaffed restaurant, then you chose to work today. Why complain if you get more tips than normal?

>> No.6493385

One of the worst days to work.
Non stop from 11am to 11pm, then you gotta clean up for another two hours.
Glad I don't work today.

FOH staff is bitching about wanting more work and getting more tips (and you usually don't let shit sit in a window if you want good tips).

Obviously your reading comprehension is as good as it usually is for back of the house staff.

It wasn't that bad.

Had to deal with this one customer who was obviously trying to give his mom a 5 star experience and failed to make reservations. He was apparently obnoxious enough to warrant my attention. He and his family left dissatisfied and "will never come back again" because I wouldn't toss another customer off their table, so they could eat at that very moment. We have no tables open and there are people who have reserved seats, calm down.

Spent a couple minutes with this family explaining why we couldn't make her salmon bisque vegan. She also "tasted gluten" in her salad.

All in all, it was a good day.

Cooks literally make your job possible

If you were a bartender responsible for anything maybe it'd be possible to respect you, but all you have to do is run back and forth to tables and smile

You don't have to prep or maintain anything, have no cleaning to do, and always get to leave when your shift ends

so i say once again

There are times where the waiter gets a bad tip because they don't put much effort into catering to their needs. I've seen waiters with their hands on their hips waiting for someone to place an order. So it isn't completely the cook's fault.

>> No.6493635

>>6493589
>>ticket prints wrong order
If by printing ticket you mean a computer printed the ticket then thats bullshit. A computer doesn't change "medium" to "well done"
>>6493620
I'm talking about when a customer specifically asks to remove something from the plate or have it added to the side or the other specifications cooks need to pay attention to. Too many times have I asked for sauce on the side and my pasta came out drowning in sauce or asked for bbq sauce on the side of a special burger so the bun wasn't soggy when it was served.

>> No.6493640

>>6493635
In that situation, the cook is mostly to blame. If it isn't caught by the runner or server, then they are partially liable. But, in the end, that is more the cooks fault, like you said.

>> No.6493668

I work as a cook. We were busy for a Sunday night I guess, but no more so than any other usual busy night so it wasn't that bad.

And for the first time ever I fucked a waitress after our shift, a pretty little 19 y/o thing. She's a new girl :)

>mfw I work at a pizzeria

The only thing I have to complain about is that our AC was out and I wasn't allowed to come to work in boxers and a wifebeater (an apron would've covered most of the shame anyway).

Even though we do some eyetie cuisine and we've a dining area, we're primarily a pizza place.

We were dead slow all day, so we mostly spent it standing around sweating our balls off.

We went to a Mexican place around the corner, had a two hour lunch, got drunk as shit and then had a slow night.

I didn't even have to prep much shit. Had lettuce prepped from Saturday - that's how slow it was.

Really, we spent most of the evening downing water and gatorade, whipping each other with rags soaked in sweat and talking shit to the counter girl since it was her last night here.

Work at one of the delivery locations for a local pizza business. It's been pretty damn busy since Friday compared to usual - I'd say about 25-45% more orders than usual, and most of them at least two large pies. Add on the fact that I worked the longest shifts besides the AM this weekend and I'm probably getting about $120 just for the three weekend days if the drivers are being cocks and only tipping out 10%. Hopefully more.
