"Treatment resistant depression" is a scam meant to catch anything experienced as depression that standard pharmacological means doesn't seem to hit.

My opinion is hard to put into words concisely. If people choose to live a likely needlessly medicated life, and are given the means to make an informed choice, fine. But teenagers, younger children, young adults. Fuck no. That's coercion, plain and simple, then the majority of these people are on, on and off or cycling or stacking meds and all this trash for life, when there is an easier, better, more personally meaningful way.

The meds right now are a cruch until i learn how to cope with the shitty swings without the drugs and lethargy that I have before.

You are exactly one anecdotal case that happens to view a given drug's action as not only subjectively effective, but viable. What that means is quite unclear. All that aside, I come from a standpoint of someone who had frequent childhood hallucinations, panic attacks, and just was generally in an altered state. Progressed to hypomania and mixed states in high school, lifelong depression as well. I can say easily that there are meaningful ways to address this that yields deeper personal answers that are actually useful. You have a manic attack, ya fuck up, you spiral into a depression? So what. It's not a foreign presence or disease, it is you, whether you like it or not and you ought to get used to it. Learn from it, it is an affordance and it allows self discovery and finding actual solutions that aren't a flimsy bandaid that we've yet to perform proper long term safety studies on.

I've seen people get on this shit, get a bit whacked out for a while sometimes, and then never change a damn thing in their life. I've got my own answers and it wasn't easy, I don't like seeing people fall into such traps. We're bad engineers.

None of those statements are true. Most people who take drugs on a regular basis do so because something is wrong with their minds. The human body is no immune nor susceptible to penicillin, and even if it were, it wouldn't be a result of evolution, since penicillin doesn't affect our ability to produce viable offspring. What's evolving are bacterial pathogens, as a result of flu patients not responsibly finishing their penicillin prescriptions and getting sick again. And no, penicillin NEVER cured "everything without question." It's an antibiotic. It works against bacterial pathogens only, and even then, it never worked against all of them.

I have hormonal acne, and I am currently on several things. They all have an effect that must be balanced in some way, and my goal is to get off as many of them as soon as I can.

Doxycycline: I have to really keep up with my probiotics, both pill and food sources. Have to be really careful about sun exposure too.
Birth control: I take a B-vitamin every other day or so since I eat a 65-90% plant-based diet and the birth control depletes B vits.
Spironolactone: I'm in shape, I have low blood pressure to begin with, so the spironolactone drops me to the point I get dizzy spells unless I'm well-hydrated.
Retin-A: Dries my skin out, so I have to moisturize 1-2 times daily.

I really think the source of our country's health problems is the industrialization of food and all the effects that comes with.
