Anyone here ever been to a soup kitchen? Is the stuff they serve any good?

I may miss next month's pay check and need to be thrifty.

Just pick up dumpster diving, dude. General rule is don't bother with uncooked meat or anything that's obviously been opened.

I'll be okay. Gonna buy an Xbox One so I won't have much money for food.

Yeah, most soup kitchens get donations from local grocery stores. Usually food that's about to expire. I imagine they give it away since it's past the expiration.

I think they vary
Some are actual homecooked meals from scratch
Others are shitty prison food trays that you wouldn't feed your dog
Your best bet is to go to a food pantry and see what you can get yourself

It's not even a good console, what the fuck bro.

I understand blowing food money on drugs, god knows I've done it too many times, but video games? Are you 12?

Don't listen to the haters m8
Whoever actually goes to soup kitchens are probably way worse pieces of shit than you
You deserve a few free meals instead of those bums

>> No.6475420

If there's a gurudwara near you go to their langars. Best damn food you've ever had in your life and it's free.

I have, I was homeless for a few months about 12 years ago and it really depends on where you are. In NYC for instance there are a lot of churches and temples that do a kind of rotation providing food for people. There were these cool Irish folk that would drive into the city from I think Maine from time to time and give stuff out, that's how I found out about Taytos. It's not part of my life that I'd repeat but I meet some cool folk and it's interesting to know that some Americans look out for others.

Ooops forgot to answer you directly, the food from the churches and temples again depening on location varied from good to sometimes restaurant quality. Some of them have nice spaces and professional type kitches for when they host events and sometimes chefs would volunteer time.

All I can say is that it varies. If you're working for the same company, maybe they could forward you some money to avoid having to find out about soup kitchens.

Agreed. And how do people expect to achieve anything in life if they're not willing to tightened the belt once in a while and simply eat away all their money?
