Excuse me, would you give me some space "tonight? Just are sure my beverages are full when they get to 1/3 full and you don't have to bother checking in on me other than that. I will let you know if I need something. Thank you. "

Literally the best thing imo... I always get the flake that seats me, and stares at her phone for 30 mins until it's time to leave. Never get a refill, never get more napkins, never get to order a beer...

Confusing under tipping with correctly tipping...I'm on a date and my server never left my table the entire time I was there and sat with my date the whole time...the first time I met my server was when I got my bill. I wouldn't be beta under tip, I'd ask for the manager and get my meal for free and leave a 20% tip on $0, but, I also wouldn't be so beta to let this happen to begin with.

Rub hot sauce in my eyes, induce tears. Tell server that my loved one just died and ask if I could be left alone unless I need water so I could just think. It's a bit lame, but not dick (at least I'm not shit posting)...I'd expect to get a pitcher of water.

Come to Australia m8, the waiters here don't bother you unless you want their attention. I couldn't stand the waiters when I visited America, constantly hovering and bothering you with their fake smiles

>> No.6455319

"I'm sorry but could you not walk over to my table as often? I like to be alone and think/talk to my friends/guests/whomever in private."

I mean it's not hard to be polite to people. I don't know why people get so scared of what to say in some situations. This is a completely non-offensive thing to say.

nothing about this thread was about tipping until you brought it up. its about waitstaff being pushy and overbearing. theres a huge difference between "good service" and "zomg fuck off already". a good waitstaff can learn how to read people from across the room when they need something, they will take their attention off their food and look around for you. THATS when you magically appear, not popping up every 3 seconds to jostle their elbow and ruin their dinner experience. dickwad.

Once you have your food you should be left alone to socialize with your party. Not get interrupted every 3 seconds. I can flag down the waiter/ess if I need something.

This.

When I'm eating out all I want is my water glass filled when it's getting low without me having to ask, no hovering and prompt order taking and delivery.

I go out to eat with someone and enjoy time with them and not be interrupted. If you can serve me with minimal interruption, I'll give you a nice sized tip. Neglect me or hover over me, I'll get rid of your tip or short you. Either way, it's no skin off my nose. I rarely eat out. Money spent on eating out can be spent elsewhere.

Buffet's have their problems, but usually the waitresses leave you alone except for drink refills.

I go to a local chinese buffet once a week (what, sometimes I just want to pig out after work on shitty Americanized chinese) and the waitresses usually leave me alone. I'm a regular, sure, but they don't really bother anyone else. The only thing I have is that I feel like a dick when I tell them I don't want a refill, because I only drink one glass and if they refill it they'll just be wasting it.

Not all waiters are whiny basterds who want to bother you while you eat. just tell them to give you some space. If you need something, call them over.

It sucks because we hate annoying you but sometimes have to because of managers breathing down our throats and telling us to make sure we've checked on you/open new tables asap. And we get nervous too. I wish there was an acceptable way to do this, would make it easier as a waitress and a customer.
