Google doesn't seem to indicate that this stuff is any different from any other hash

>potatoes
>onions
>chopped up meat

pickled beets on the side I haven't seen anywhere else, but is there really anything particular about the way the swedes do hash compared to the rest of the world?

i think it's the pickled beets that do it.a swede can't have hasg without beets. change the taste a lot

Norwegian here, it's okay if it's with an egg, and on a sandwich.
It's got too much potato though, and can be really dry and boring alone.
Replacing the potato cubes with corn would be good maybe.

Looks a bit like Blunzngroestel, which is potatoes, smoked blood sausage and onions.

That's all it is?

Apparently I've been cooking a swedish dish for years.

>> No.6339393

So it's sort of like bubble and squeak? Can't say I've had it exactly but enough hash style dishes to think it'd be pretty damn good

i had it at least once a week under a different name in germany (hoppelpoppel), as well with pickles and beets and an egg. always loved it, especially with self made mayo. a good meal before hitting a bar.

That doesn't come across as a Swedish word.
Pyttipanna sounds indian or paki.

In any event, get with times, pic related!

sounds good but i usually roast my beets and potatoes (and actually usually I add rutabagas (don't they call those swedes in some places?) and turnips too in a lot of olive oil with salt and pepper and a bit of cayenne powder. Sometimes serve with a roast, sometimes just eat the yummy caramelized veggies. I guess my point is that I think beets and potatoes are a great flavor balance I just haven't thought to add them to hash, which if I'm being fancy I'll add blue crab meat to hash instead of corned beef because we have a lot of those where I live.

Common in Norway - Pytt i panne.

Very good when made from scratch along with bacon bits.

Do you have anything besides bacon in Scandinavia like here we have tasso and pancetta and all sorts of options for cured meat (there's a butcher one neighborhood over).?

>> No.6339801

>>6339774
Maybe some special places. Problem in Norway, is that meat is beyond expensive so anything beyond "the normal" is pretty much non-existent.

In Sweden there's lots of options available at almost every supermarket I've been to

How do you spice up your stuvade sakaroner /ck/? I like side pork with mine instead of sausage.

Well like the fancy butcher its like 20-30 dollars a pound for it which I think is pricey as hell but they cure it themselves which is awesome.
