Well, there's besciamella (bechamel) and cheese on the top (just some parmesan reggiano and the last of the mozzarella from the layers, that I wanted to use up because it was such a small amount.) The mozzarella came from the cheese department at my local deli, I can't remember what brand it was, but it does melt really well, particularly for things like this.

if you're going to cook the basil in the pizza, you should put in on the sauce, under the cheese and toppings - that way the oils from the cheese and sauce and the heat from the oven will pull the flavor out of the basil into your pizza.

if you bake it on top of the pizza it will only get dry.

you can also top the pizza with raw basil after cooking, if you want photo appeal.
