What does /ck/ think of pizza with no cheese? Ever had it?
Not necessarily in a "vegan" way, but just without it.

I first had some when I moved to the city and the local pizza joint offered some cheese-free ready options. The potato pizza looked good, and I've never looked back.

Pic related. It's one of my favourite kinds. Potato, rosemary, lots of olive oil, salt and pepper.

Actually, marinara pizza is one of the classic italian pizza options. And pizza has morphed and changed so much to everyone's tastes in America since (and modern Italy too of course) then, that pizza can be whatever you want it to be in a sense.

I have a bad autoimmune reaction to dairy protein, so can't have cheese. Cheeseless pizza is edible, but it's just not as good.

Fake cheeses on pizza are superbad, unless it's got casseine, the protein from milk, which is what many soy cheeses use to trick ignorant vegans into buying it. Even that's going to be vastly inferior to normal cheese.

The only cheeseless pizza I actually enjoy without missing cheese is one made by US food company
"Amy's". One could certainly argue it's not really a pizza, it just happens to be on a round pizza crust, but whatever you call it, I like it. I think it lacks tomato as well...the sauce on the crust is primarily caramelized onion, and it has artichoke hearts and I think red pepper. Sometimes it's in stores next to other frozen pizzas, while in others it's segregated with health and nutjob frozen foods.

Generally I think of cheese as a standard pizza item, though if the cheese is low moisture shredded crap I'll pass on the pizza in most cases.

But potato is a good cheeseless pizza, especially when some fresh rosemary gets involved. I've had good artichoke pizza, too. Also don't forget pic related.

Cheese is usually on pizza, but not required.

Those are some great combos! I made one awhile ago that used a sweet tomato sauce as the base, caramelized onions with black olives, and topped with panko bread crumbs tossed in olive oil, as well as some fresh basil leaves on top when it's done cooking. One of my favourites!

Uruguay does pizza with no cheese

If you order a pizza there, you'll get dough and tomato sauce. To get cheese, you have to ask for a muzzarella. It's super werid, but I love it.
