Should be perfectly fine my fellow cu/ck/old! Where I live, there's plenty of deer that get hit and we just pull em to the back where we hang them up (Tried raccoon once, not worth it IMO). Make sure you tie the legs together and string them up about 5 feet into the air just so the force of gravity is stronger and gets rid of all the gross crunchy bits. As for recipes, I typically just deep-fry them or use a little bit of olive oil to let it just fry on the pan. Bon appetite! Enjoy :)

I watched a deer get hit by a car once. I quickly gutted and skinned the animal and let it hang for about 4 days in my meat shack and everything was fine. Uncultured eurotrash leave dead animals to rot and fester on the side of the road and spread disease everywhere.

OP drain the blood and gut it as as you can then take it to a local butcher to make sure it's safe if you're not sure.

In Wisconsin it's completely legal to take a dead deer off the road and eat it.
The only time I'd do it is during the winter. Never the summer though, don't want them nasty parasites unless I hit that deer myself. Spring and fall is a gamble.

Kind of weird and wasteful that they just throw the meat in the dump. I know that people are encouraged to take excess carcasses into local butcheries, and a good chunk goes to area food pantries/soup kitchens.

I know that in my state, it's legal too because overpopulation is rampant ;I live in the city, near a highway and they've found their way into my backyard.

I can't recall if people out in rural areas get paid to do it, but I know that they have to personally deal with it if it's on their country roads - state troopers have to deal with ones out on freeways.

OP, if you don't know how to clean and dress a deer, you need to learn how first. If you fuck it up you could potentially contaminate your meat, and fuck yourself up. Also check out how to butcher it.

Other than that, you should be good, as long as there's no weird sights/smells on it.

Yeah, the tool is so that hunters can easily remove all of the intestines. Just insert tool, cut a ring around the asshole, and pull gently and slowly until all of the intestines are out. Then slit open the abdomen and remove the other icky organs (gallbladder, etc.).

That's not to say that hunters don't learn to poke at poop piles, but it's not like you're supposed to play with the stuff.
