Does anyone on /ck/ have nice restaurant stories? I always hear the horror stories
of various things (like urinal cakes on wall as air freshener at the one place i used to go to, glad that place closed.)

I have one.

> be me about a little over a year ago
> couple days after Halloween
> dad had just passed away from illness and we finished up the last night of showing
> it was late and just wanted some food to grab and go with my friends
> go to local chinese place
> allows takeout from buffet line
> everyone gets takeout and lookign around they are close to closing time
> silentcrickets.mp3
> the lady there knows me because i frequent way more than a healthy amount
> she is always very nice and pleseant
> so as we are weighing out takout ($per LB)
> she reaches under the counter and pulls up a bowl of candy
> "you take candy!"
> we all laugh and take a piece
> she peers over to son (about 6) sleeping with head on table
> "you take more, quickly while he sleep!"
> dive our fingers in for seconds of the childs candy
> "more more, he have too much, he no eat it, more!"
> we all laugh and dive hands in for grabs of thirds in our bags
> all being satified with stealing a little chinese boys candy we go to grab our takeout bags
> "here now more!"
> she proceeds to handful in each of our bags leaving 1/4 of what candy there was in the bowl
> she smiles and send us on our way

I do kinda feel bad for the kid, but she probably thought too much candy make him like fat american!
Brightened that just just by a little bit, i still frequent there about every other week at this point.
Some of the best better food and nicer people for a smaller place.

Yeah defs. They all know my family at my local Chinese joint so they always give us free deep fried ice cream at the end of our meals

My experiences are overwhelmingly negative, and I feel like giving praise to the positive experiences is more or less saying, "Thanks for doing the job that you're being paid to do." Hardly worth of praise.

I like it when I place an order, it's correct, I pay for it, they quickly process my money, and I'm out of there in less than 5 minutes. When I eat the food, it's hot, fresh, and they didn't skimp on ingredients. It's sad that I have to say that was a good experience. It should just be an average one.

I guess it's cynical to say that "in this day and age" having a restaurant meet all that criteria is rare, but I hate that American culture lets this be the norm. People are far too complacent, lazy, and submissive to demand better.

The restaurant industry needs A LOT more darwinism.

Well i'm not talking about people just "doing there job" but those who go a little above their job to make things nicer

I can't really think of too much more myself off the top of my head, the one place gave me a discount on my food for frequenting. a little ma and pa place.

I know that, and I'm sharing that I don't have any experiences like yours because people are overwhelmingly awful.

I hope this fucking world ignites into a nuclear holocaust.

There was a guy my age that worked behind the counter in the Chinese takeaway near my workplace when I was a student. We always used to chat, turned out to have common interests, and he asked me out after I'd been there a few times. I declined but we swapped numbers anyway, ended up being friends and we're still in contact even though both of us now work elsewhere.

His mom owns another takeaway now and I've visited him at home there a couple of times and got free food (the good stuff too, not what's been sat keeping warm all evening or pre-prepared then frozen).

nope. OP just wanted sytmpathy from strangers on the internet. little did he know that we are all capable of never crying during our mothers funeral and shooting arabs without remorse.
