I worked shitty service jobs in high school and college--Kroger, Wal-Mart, Thornton's, U.S. Bank, etc. Managers tell smug, self-important customers it's being handled, when at you most employees get a write-up. Only those employees that sabotage service or ruin people's food get in serious trouble. Management doesn't care. They'll tell you what you want to hear, so you'll leave. The reality is that you they hire pedophiles, murderers, other felons, and college kids and high school kiddies because no one else wants to work those kinds of jobs. Most people go NEET, disability, leech off society via welfare, sponge off mommy and daddy, go to college and wind up working those kinda jobs anyway, etc.

For instance, I had a woman threaten to murder me when I was a pharmacy technician because she thought we had lost her script, and turns out she left it at home. I told her 'I would fuck your cunty ass up' plainly. This was in the drive-thru no less. Pharmacist was like, "you shouldn't have said that." That was it. No drop in pay. No discipline. No management intervention. No 'let's take you aside and coach you.' Later she called the pharmacy to apologize, and I wouldn't take the call. The secret to my success is and was that people generally liked me, and that's a large part of it too.

But there is something deeply satisfying about watching a manager tell a (pseudo) vindicated customer that 'the problems been resolved' while everyone sniggers and titters in the breakroom or elsewhere. Get a clue. No one cares that you thought you were mistreated, and no one cares that you have a deep sense of retribution, justice, disgust, self-importance, etc.
