I got a nice steak for my Halloween celebration, and I took a godlike 2 hour nap instead of passing out candy to kids. I'm hungry, and I want to eat badly.

Question: do I have to let the steak come to room temp before cooking? I will be patient if I have to, but would rather not.

microwave it. Gets it to room temperature faster, OP!.

Anon, if you let it get to room temp, you'll have an easier time cooking it evenly. But that's a fairly minor thing, given the other qualities.

Wait are you serious? I assumed this was a troll at first.

You can't get it to room temperature otherwise unless you don't mind leaving it out for hours. No, letting it sit outside the fridge for an hour doesn't cause a significant rise in temperature inside.

I had steak today too. I forgot to take it out of the fridge to warm up before I went out and it turned out fine.

>>5935637
the only real reason to let it warm up first is if you're cooking it rare/blue rare and don't want a cold center

Ah okay, I didn't know that. I cooked it med rare with no issues.

not so, I thaw my steaks and I'm the light what books do not

>> No.5935649

Put it in a bag and let it sit in the sink with enough warm (Not hot, warm) water to barely cover it.

I literally have a USDA choice ribeye in my fridge, and it is heavier and of higher quality than yours. I also have a good grill to cook it on.

Pics or it didn't happen. Mine is 1.3 lbs, I dunno why you would want anything bigger. I prefer my steaks cooked in cast iron master race.

Well that's not really an issue now is it? This is /ck/, all of us have our steak well done and smothered in ketchup.
