Wtf is going on? Is anyone else seeing this? Has Chili become the new meme food? Every day i see clueless retards posting oc about their so called "chilis," and what do i see? Some epic red soup with store bought FROZEN jalapenos. No caramelization, kidney beans with water and all STRAIGHT into the mix. Diced meat WAY too big, and no seared enough. Holy shit, why, just why. Its not cool to make chili, its not cool to tell your friends about how you had chili last night and how spicy it was. Go away, you are stinking up the board.

Sorry OP, but that looks genuinely horrible. Good for you if you've only just started cooking, but learn the basics so you don't get into bad habits.

Learn why you actually do certain things, like not overcrowding your pan with meat, or marinating your meat first, or cooking off your onions/garlic with dry spices before you add the tomato.

>> No.5903128

>>5903048

It cooks it in a different way though. Frying reduces the water content in the onion, concentrating the flavour and caramelising the sugars. Those brown bits you end up with are concentrated flavour.
