Carnivor is a good mass production cab, its got a touch of syrah and merlot so it is smooth and drinkable by itself. Some pure, robust cabs are best paired with food. Try some GSM (grenache syrah mourvedre) blends for something similar. I wish more alcoholi/ck/s drank wine

Don't know much about liquor substitutes, but I substitute beer (my addiction) with la croix and various teas many times a week. Don't know if that's any use to you. La croix takes care of the carbonation and flavor addiction, and tea has many soothing qualities. I prefer chamomile due to it's nervous system-suppressing benefits.

I cooked something decent for the first time in a long while, today. Pan-fried skin-on salmon fillet with steamed asparagus tossed in a bit of vinagrette and a baked potato with butter. Nothing fancy, but it's a nice change from fried eggs and toast. Finishing the pinot noir I bought right now, there's some dark beer in the fridge and whiskey on the shelf. Yeah Bundy really is a killer. I think one of the main reasons it's so popular here is because it's an Aussie product and everyone in Aus mixes everything with coke anyway.

Mt Gay Eclipse goes for about $35 for a 700ml bottle here. Not too bad compared to Bundy UP which goes for about $30 / 700ml (if you'll excuse another comparison to Bundaberg).

I'll be on the lookout for that Wray and Nephew, I enjoy a good white OP. Unfortunately most of the bottle shops in my area don't have a large selection of rum as it is, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

I do all that if I really tie one on the night before or have the occasional shot or two when I wake up too early.
