Why would anybody eat this on purpose? I feel like I'm going to be sick. I probably will be sick later. I don't think humans have evolved to eat this.

It's like eating cardboard or gravel. I'm pretty sure it's a communist vegan conspiracy.

I like it pretty good with yogurt and berries. Make my own granola too but this works when I'm out

I don't think you know what a vegan is, silly.

>why would anyone eat something I don't like on purpose? I feel like I'm gonna be sick so it's a rule that it has to make everyone else sick as well. I'll probably be sick later and everyone else who disagrees should purge. I'm not high-enough evolved to eat it so that means no one else should be, either
>it's like eating cardboard or gravel either though I've never had either and I'm sure it's a communist vegan conspiracy because I don't like it and therefore no one can
>but damn do I love dong in my mouth

But sugar isn't sourced from animals so how is sugar not vegan?

>> No.5792179

Premade cereals? I'd rather buy oats for 50 cents a pound and add my own stuff.

I meant granola in general, not necessarily this brand.

Unless the type is specified ('palm sugar' or 'maple sugar' or 'beet sugar'), most vegans will assume the word 'sugar' in an ingredient list to mean 'cane sugar' which is indeed processed through bone char. Most often, when unspecified, 'sugar' on an ingredient list will be either beet or cane or a mixture of the two but neither in the US nor in Canada does it need to be specified which of the two it is.
Cane sugar is filtered through bone char though beet sugar is not.
Bone char, as it's name implies, is made from bone.
Bone comes from animals.
The ingredients for Harvest Crunch include brown sugar, milk and honey.
Brown sugar is simply white sugar (which is most commonly cane sugar which is itself filtered through bone char) mixed with a bit of treacle or molasses, hence, it is unsuitable to many vegans because of the possibility that the brown sugar could have been made from white sugar which could have been made from cane and therefore filtered through bone char.

I know. It's fucking stupid, but that's how they view it. Did you know that some vegans now avoid figs (look up 'fig wasp') and farms that don't specify that they do not use 'captive' bees as pollinators? Because many farms hire beehives from apiaries to pollinate their crops and these vegans consider the bees to be subjected to 'slave labour.'
Yes. I'm serious.

Enjoy eating garbage for the rest of your life, and being a hippie pile of garbage yourself.

Are you under the impression that because I know things about veganism that I am a vegan?

I speak English, too. I must be an American or a Canadian or a Brit or from some other country that speaks English, too, huh?

Just... wow.

Bone char is still being used in the sugar industry, but it being slowly phased out as resins and becoming less expensive and more effective at color removal.

I could say the same about grape nuts I think they're disgusting.

Eating Grape nuts without milk is like eating coarse, bran-flavored sand.

I don't like almonds, but aside from that, it looks nice. I've had cereal like that, it's tasty.

Looks okay to me.

Though I like starting my day with oatmeal cooked in water with milk added at the end.
