Nope I just really like it.I live in the states and don't often see HP sauce and katsu sauce to me is better than A1. I don't MIND a1 but think it is a bit heavy-handed on the cheap quality vinegar taste.

>> No.5789822

>>5789772
Opposite, A1 tastes neutered once you've had H1.

The missing ingredient is tamarind and more citrus, which gives it its tang. It's so damn good.

But yeah, if you're cooking a GOOD steak, you should never, EVER use sauce.

ON CHEAP meat, though, nothing's better than a sauce. Like if you're bumming it with chuck or some shit, nothing compares to H1.

Hmm... I thought it would be to Briton as 57 sauce to America. I'll have to pick it up in the international aisle.

As far as steak goes, unless you're getting some dry aged prime for $30+ a cut, idgaf. There are plenty of great steak dishes that use sauce, like seak au poivre, diane, or cream peppercorn. (not to mention cheap steak n' eggs with yolk/hot sauce/A1, which is a guilty pleasure of mine)

Way to pick the most common brown sauce.
My granddad once made my mum go the shop on Christmas day to get some Daddies sauce because he wouldn't eat HP. And I respect him for it.

It is only good with a bacon sarnie.

White bread, proper white bread though, not that shit the Americans eat that has sugar in it. Butter those bread slices with loads of real butter. Plenty of fried bacon, I personally recommend middle bacon because it has it all, but back bacon is acceptable. Squirt your HP over the bacon, put the top slice on, eat that cunt there and then.

Why does anyone mention A-1 in the same breath as HP? It's total bullshit. The only thing these sauces have in common is their color and shape of their bottle. They couldn't be more different in taste. HP is very sweet and tangy, while A-1 is all about vinegary tartness.

Okonomiyaki sauce, but with a sharper tang and more spicy, but without a weird umami that okonomiyaki sauce has.

>> No.5794308

>>5793721
People have, its not spicy, but vinegary has a sharp taste and goes great with meat.

I use it mostly on English breakfast and meat sandwiches. Mixed it with lentils once whilst pissed and holy shit it tasted so good.

Onions and bell peppers are not considered spicy, at least in England.
I would put spicy along the lines of hot sauces, this one is different, it is a lot sharper, and does not leave your tongue with that shitty hot spicy flavor after trying it. Its a distinct taste. pretty hard to explain.

>> No.5794320

>>5794316
It tastes like black pepper is used in it though. I could google the ingredients but I don't need to. It's got a mild spice but it doesn't burn the mouth.

If you put lots of pepper on your food, would you say it isn't spicy or hot?

but depending on where you are in the us you will get made fun of for using sweet sauce. because clearly a vinegar base is the best and in moderation improves the taste of the BBQ. dont over do it though you might get heart burn.
