yeah there are tons of people who don't eat veal because it's commonly believed that the calves are raised in horrible conditions

which some of them are for sure, but those people quite often don't give a fuck about eating battery chickens, and that annoys me

i just avoid eating too much of the time for general reasons, of which ethics are a subset

Pretty much the only meat I wouldn't eat for moral reasons is shark fin soup, because I consider the fin harvesting to be wasteful and cruel. If they went ahead and killed the sharks, and used the rest of them for meat, I'd have no problem. I've eaten shark before, quite tasty.

Beyond that, I guess endangered species are off limits, as well as dogs or cats.

Nope. As far as ethics are concerned I have trouble with the way most of our animal products are produced in the US, and I disagree with a monoculture based around heavily government subsidized corn and soy. So I generally avoid animal products and shit made from corn and soy on a day to day basis.

But I can't be an absolutist about food, so I still eat whatever I want. I have no problems with foie gras, veal, lamb, suckling pig or whatever. But only once in a long while.

The way I see it is if you don't choose to do no harm it's probably good to choose to do as little as you can.

As long as youre not buying Chinese it is produced by animals that literally bum rush the person feeding them at feeding time. They enjoy it. Hell one man in Spain has even gotten it down so well that he can harvest semi wild birds that he raises then releases, yet his birds still come back at feeding time and fuck off after that.

I specifically mentioned all the myths that surround the Wagyu beef that is actually produced in Kobe, Japan, which are far from the truth.

I looked around a little bit, and Wikipedia says that while there are producers who don't use gavage, but those are usually said to be of lesser quality, and it's pretty much impossible to fatten up the livers to that extreme without force feeding.
Also, the legal definition of France for Foie gras actually requires force feeding.

Yes, and almost every major producer in France and Spain admits that the geese enjoy gavage. Currently the man that the world is extolling for top tier foie gras is is a Spanish man who has figured out a way to get semi wild birds at the right time of the year to equal or surpass the farmed birds in terms of quality.

Nothing endangered, no cetaceans, no pinnipeds, no primates, no cats, and no dogs. Some other things gross me out but thats my restrictions due to moral reasons.

No endangered species and no pet animals e.g. dog. I'd like to say I wouldn't eat "intelligent" animals, such as dolphin, but I eat pig meat and they are far more intelligent than people give them credit for.
