How is lobster as a healthy food?

Dieting for a little bit to cut a few pounds, been going vegan the past three days or so, but there's this awesome sale going on Saturday where they're selling Lobster for like $4.00 a pound. I love Lobster and I don't use butter or anything, I like the taste of the meat itself. I'm going to buy maybe 10 or so, eat 3 or 4 this weekend, cook and freeze the rest.

Also, lobster recipes and whatever.

It's extremely healthy and low fat. It is great for dieting.

Awesome, I love the claws the most, I also really like going to work in the upper body. The liver and roe and all that stuff tastes great.

Also the white protein that comes out when it cooks, that tastes good too.

I fucking love lobster, crab too.

stop looking for "healthy foods" to eat to lose weight

you're looking for food to eat... to lose weight

you should already be eating healthy food, just less of it

not putting butter on your lobster isn't going to make you lose weight if you eat too many calories of lobster

>> No.5738683

There's no such thing as healthy and unhealthy food. Food is food. Something unhealthy for consumption is not food.

Calories is calories, plain and simple. Everything in moderation is good. Everything in excess is bad.

>> No.5738688

I got lobster that cheap once. Only once. :-(
I bought only one. It was a pretty small one, only a pound and a half or so.
I brought it home, split in half while it was still alive, scooped out the meat and boiled the shell and head to make lobster broth then used that to make a roux-thickened curry. Made a light roux, compounded it with curry powder, freshly pasted ginger, garlic and chilies, minced onion and a itty bitty bit of powdered baby prawns.
Added the stock, brought it to the boil seasoned to taste and added some pearl onions, frozen broad beans and a few ears of frozen baby and immediately lowered the heat to maintain a simmer.
Finally, I added the lobster meat and poached it in the curry.
De-fuckin-licious.

hur hur junk food is still food though

No, you're the fat, sweaty retard, who is trying to justify your shitty diet by saying there is no such thing as bad food. A thousand calories worth of potatoes, or a thousand calories worth of red meat, or a thousand calories of bread will make you fat, I'm telling you right now. The whole point of eating healthy is to get away from consuming carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, wheat, etc.

Red meat is fine in moderation, but you'll be a lot healthier eating seafood and poultry. Green vegetables, berries, and other low carbohydrate, low sugar, fruits and vegetables are a lot better for you, and one will lose weight much faster.

Kill yourself.

junk food isn't food, it's something you should only eat because you like the taste of it

i'm not even fat, you're obese

i eat potatoes, sweet potatoes, and homemade bread all the time

i also eat dairy!

but i also eat berries, green vegetables, fresh fruits, and a ton of vegetables

in fact, i just grated carrots and cucumbers, and garlic to make a fermented vegetable coleslaw last night!

i can just handle eating high calorie foods with fat in moderation without making myself become obese

like you, because you're obese. fuck you.

Good for you, you still have to eat healthy to not be fat. You just said it's calories in vs calories out, but it's not that way because as you just said, junk food will make you fat. Therefore, you need to eat healthy to lose or maintain weight.

no, you were already told to stop eating processed junk food, which is the biggest thing you need to stop doing

make the rest of your meals up of a balance of the food groups, don't go looking for specific foods to eat and DON'T OVEREAT AND ONLY EAT WHEN YOU'RE ACTUALLY HUNGRY

and guess what? that healthy delicious recipe uses ROUX, WHICH HAS BUTTER OR OIL

But that's not true. You could literally eat 1500kcal of fries/chips each day for thirty days and nothing else and so long as you've got a BMR at or above 1800, you'll lose 1kg in a month.
1800 BMR is about normal for most human males of average height, weight and fitness. It doesn't matter if you eat 1500kcal of broccoli or 1500kcal of bread or 1500kcal of a balanced diet or 1500kcal of deep fried pig's dicks: you will still lose weight.

Being thin is not the end all of health, though. It really isn't. The fact remains, though, for most people in the western world, losing weight would greatly improve health simply because of the extreme stress being overweight brings to the human body.

i never said it was hard to figure out, tentflap

my point was is that saying lobster is a super healthy food is stupid

you're supposed to be eating food in combination with other foods for every meal

you need to stop thinking of food items as healthy on their own, they need to be eaten with other things

you can swap out the lobster for a portion of any other animal product and as long as the rest of the food you're eating is healthy, you'll be healthy

trying to lose weight by avoiding entire food groups is NOT THE PROPER WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT

>Broccoli has no toxicity.

Incorrect. Most things that we consider "nutrients" are toxic at some level. Vitamin A, for example, is essential for health. However, eating too much of it can cause hypervitaminosis A, which can be fatal. The same is true with iron. Iron poisoning is a common cause of death of young children. Broccoli contains both iron and vitamin A. Therefore it is possible (though very unlikely) to poison yourself from eating too much of it.

That being said, it's really one of those things that's technically true but unlikely to happen in reality. You'd have to eat an absurd amount of it to be toxic. Though some foods are so vitamin-dense that they can cause sickness quite easily. Cod liver oil contains a ton of vitamin A. As does the livers of many arctic animals like seals or polar bears.
