Depends on what you are saying exactly.

Wasabi is an actual plant which is often called "Japanese horseradish", but it's not just normal horseradish grown in Japan, it is a different plant.

That being said, even in Japan most "Wasabi" is actually ordinary horseradish. Real wasabi is very expensive so you'd only find that at a fancy restaurant.

That's hardly a "deconstruction". The idea of a deconstruction is to take a complex preparation and reduce it to the basic ingredients and flavors. This looks and sounds more complicated than the food it's meant to replace. It's not a "deconstruction" it's some kind of bizarre variation of the dish.

Well, it is Tempura soba.
We can enjoy two tastes. Simple tempura with crispy batter and dipped tempura with soggy batter that takes up delicious soup.

Additionally, some people like soup with batter oil like another soba (" Tanuki soba" pic related. It's cheaper), because no oil is added to soba soup.

How about amount of water? You may put too much water....?
If you have 500cc rice, you put 500-550cc water when you make sushi rice. (a little bit less water than usual)

While you mix rice and sushi vinegar and so on, you should not knead. It's important to turn over them as if you cut them as hitting a wind in order to reduce water drop.

I'm curious - is there any perceived etiquette to eating this? Americlap here, and I generally just "dig in" to whatever I'm eating. Then again, I usually don't have so many components to deal with. I guess my question could be better reflected by another question: Why are all the vegetables separate? It seems like you could just make a salad by combining most of these elements, yet here they are on their own. So is there some reason for that relating to how to eat it all?

This isn't Japanese dish I think, maybe originally from Chinese dish or Korean dish.

We can enjoy making wrap with a crepe (above one at this pic <=not good sorry ), boiled cabbage, boiled salted pork, and other vegetables, and then dip on various sauce.
How to make it is similar to making "Temakizushi" (with seaweed, rice, vegetables, and seafood).

In family party, making something (like BBQ) is enjoyable for us, and most important thing is that host - almost our mother- don't have to make all thing up.

But it is one side of Japanese food culture I think.
The spaghetti Neapolitan, the ramen, the curry, and son on are completely different from origins, but they are established as Japanese style foods.

Japanese are good for making something their own type.

Japanese food question: what's the best filling for onigiri? I made my first attempt at it today with two different fillings and was happy that I didn't completely fuck it up. Pic related; the ones on the left with the furikake (sprinkles) are carrot and cucumber filled (I don't know, they were just there in the fridge), and the plain ones on the right are cooked salmon and mayonnaise (I saw somewhere that tuna and mayo were common fillings but I had some leftover salmon from last night's dinner).
