ITT: Regional foods/restaurants

Cook Out is god-tier burgers in North Carolina. They have a tray special: Double cheeseburger, 2 sides, and a large drink, all under 5 bucks.

I get my burgers cheddar style (cheddar cheese, grill onions, bacon, mayo and bbq sauce)

Location matters. Some cookouts are awful. I went to one where I live and they put cold sliced cheese on my cheddar style. Didn't even bother to melt it. And they also gave me like 15 fries. I never went back. But the 2 other locations we have where I live always serve good food. It's always cooked correctly and made properly.

How did wawa gain this cultish following? There's nothing special about wawa except maybe the cookies and pretzels. Otherwise it's convenient for college aged stoners with munchies or repressed middle agers trying to recapture their youth by staying out until 3am.

The food is on par with subway and overpriced, and the coffee is only good if you mix it up with the esspresso machine.

I've lived in North Carolina for 19 years, and to call Cook Out God-Tier, well... I dunno.

First off, the quality depends entirely on the staff and management. I lived in one town where they had three Cook Outs...all employed young black males...all were shit. The burgers were old, cold, dry, and poorly assembled. Sides were always greasy and/or bland.

New town...new Cook Out...employ mostly young white girls... burgers are awesome.

Now keep in mind...by awesome, I mean compared to other fast-food drive-through joints. You can always find a better burger at a casual-dining place or The Burger Spot... but you'll pay 8-10 for just a burger.

I don't think Cook Out qualifies as God-Tier, but when done right, they are infinitely better than McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Hardee's, etc.

The Wegman's I frequented was massive. Their produce was always superior to the other grocery stores. They had a full-on health foods section which was like a miniature Whole Foods (I mostly just bought soap and incense). But what really took the cake for me was their deli, bakery and hot food sections. Their deli sandwiches are huge, bigger than Publix, but comparable in quality. Their donuts are phenomenal, and they had a lot of single serve bakery items, which is awesome when you're coming off of a graveyard shift and you want a coffee and some donuts. The hot foods section is similar to what you'd see in a Whole Foods (i.e, a buffet) but with much more variety and far less cost. They also had a full-on coffee station where you could grind the beans yourself, and even sold raw beans that you could roast at home. Oh, and they're open 24 hours. And they had a huge beer section. And a huge ethnic section. The more I think about it the more I remember about it so I'm just going to stop now.

Primanti's is probably what most people will bring up if you come to Pittsburgh, but I go to Uncle Sam's Subs for lunch at least twice a week.

The Subs are like $6-7 on average (and stuffed to hell, I barely finish), the two handfuls of fries you get are complementary, and it's just really, really, really good. Not to mention they sell beer. I'll usually drink a couple on Fridays before heading back to work.

To put it another way: There are three other sub sandwich places in the area (Subway, Firehouse, JJ) and the only business they get is the overfill.

So damn good.

I've been to a bunch of different locations and they were all good, I usually hate fast food but I really like their burgers.
