My wife is an ok cook, but still learning. She went from living with her parents to living with me, whereas I went from living alone for 5 years to living with her. Big difference, and I happened to make cooking one of my favorite pastimes as a lone man. At first she was embarrassed of her lack of knowledge, and for quite a while about her cooking skills vs. mine, but I just tried to make it nice for both of us and she has gradually been getting better and more into it with me.

Also her ass is not as perfect as OP pic but it is not too far off from it either.

My wife is a good cook. When she's doing the dishes she learned from her Italian friends she's amazing. Her problem is time management. It takes her two or three hours to make a meal that someone organized could bang out in half that time.

Fortunately she's more interested in baking, which she excels at, and I suck at. So she makes the bread (wholegrain sourdough), and I make most of the meals. Works out fine.

Not my significant other, but I do have a femanon roommate, with whom I share kitchen responsibilities.
>and unfortunately share nothing else

Weeks where I work 3rd shift, I cook dinner. Weeks where I work 1st, she cooks. Weekends we usually fend for ourselves.

Menu for a typical week where I cook:
>M: reubens with homemade Russian dressing and corned beef
>T: handmade jaegerschnitzel
>W: handmade crab cakes with fresh everything
>R: week-marinated homemade sauerbraten with scratch made spaetzle and ginger snap gravy
>F: arroz con pollo y camarones with fresh everything

Menu for a typical week where she cooks:
>M: penne with store-bought vodka sauce
>T: mac & cheese w/ canned tuna (or fresh crabmeat if I'm lucky)
>W: spaghetti with store-bought marinara and freezer meatballs
>R: frozen tortellini with store-bought alfredo sauce
>F: fucking coddies

It's not always this bad, but the dramatic difference in effort should be obvious.

And I complain about the coddies because that's not dinner, but hers are bretty damn gud.

Traditionally, it's always been split along prep complexity.

breads, baked goods, broths and stews that take a long time to make and are easy to prepare were done by women, then the more nuanced parts would be done by the man or a hired cook who came by at appointed times to do meats, fishes, veggies, etc.

my buttslave thinks he's a good cook but thats just because he's new to the feeling of satisfaction with one's own handiwork. I know i'm technically better than he is because i can understand a recipe and move beyond it after one read through, but sometimes i just wonder if it even matters. he's much less hard on himself than i am and so his margin of success is much wider than mine. whats the point of honing a skill if you can be happy with dull cooking?

Oh fuck yes.
My wife can literally cook anything. I've seen her take on complicated recipes that she's never made before, and have them come out perfect. But, she used to be a professional cook, so you know....The only downside is I've gained too much weight, and now have to be on calorie-restriction which sucks. Even when she makes something as simple as a sandwich, it's like...the best sandwich ever. Everytime.

>> No.5656152

Nah, my wife is terrible in the kitchen, but she's come a long way. I use her as a prep cook and have her chop vegetables or make salad a lot when I'm doing the heavy lifting.

I grilled some chicken, brats, hot dogs, and burgers last night for us and some friends. She's taking care of the in-house cooking- Corn, mashed potatoes, baked beans. The beans come out fine- they're from a can so it's pretty hard to fuck that up. The corn, all you need to do is boil it so that was fine too. But the mashed potatoes require adding butter, cream, and mashing. They ended up with the consistency of chowder. They tasted fine, but they were so damn runny I couldn't eat them.
Then I asked her to toast a few buns under the broiler for the brats right before I take them off the grill. When I come in with the food, I smell smoke, check the oven and the buns are literally on fire.
