No, the Americans aren't pro-recycling and sustainable with packaging as much as anyone else. They are more about the final product satisfaction, so use styrofoam, milk in cartons, packing peanuts, anything they want.

The weight of two pizza boxes on top of each other, if deep dish or fully loaded can sag the middle of a box ,and therefore the lid under it. The cardboard thinnness is not the issue, it's simple shape and physics.
