Seriously, this stuff is almost half the price. It's a little softer and slightly less salty, but think of the savings!

American here. Marmite was pretty godtier on bologna sandwiches and dissolved in hot water. Ive never had vegemite though. Wanted to pick some up at grocery but its like $8 for a little jar in foreign section. Could I buy in bulk from Amazon or is there an expiration date?

Marmite makes grilled cheese go from being an okay lunch snack to being a great lunch snack.

It's also quite nice to put in cottage or shepherd's pie.

Just to consider: Don't use American cheese. Use rich flavoured cheese like a vintage cheddar.

The difference between cottage and shepherd's pie is that cottage is made with beef and shepherd's is made with lamb, aside from that they're exactly the same in every other way.

The grill cheese suggestion was good. If you find you can't possibly finish a jar within 5-10 years, just use it as a broth/stock replacement in soups and stuff.

>Can I even get this in the states?

Fellow American here. I've never had any problem finding it; most supermarkets stock it. I've seen it in the isle where they have bullion and such, as well as in the British import section.

Bovril, which is a beef extract rather than yeast, is much more difficult to find. I think there is (or maybe was) some kind of ban against importing British beef due to fears of foot and mouth disease or something like that. Of course Bovril wouldn't be a risk because it's cooked so thoroughly, but technically since it contains beef it falls under the ban. I just have family in England send it to me when I run out.

2nding this guy. It's delicious spread on hot buttered toast. Spread a THIN layer on there. Don't slather it on like peanut butter or jam--it's potent, you only need a little.

Just because something was originally meant for the poor or peasants or etc, doesn't make it automatically repulsive as a food.

For example, many years ago, lobsters were considered the "cockroaches of the sea," and were seen as food for the poor. At one point, it was even considered cruel punishment to feed lobster to prisoners.

Nutella has essentially become an epic meme food, like bacon. Don't get me wrong, there is good bacon out there, but most of the people spouting "BACON" and "everything's better with bacon" are retarded.

This stuff is what adults who like Nutella eat. It's about a trillion times better.

Nope, not falling for your shit again.

The Nutella label reads; "hazelnut spread with skim milk & cocoa" but the reality is it tastes like "chocolate with chocolate & chocolate"...

>> No.5597530

>>5596532

The stuff I linked actually tastes like hazelnuts, not chocolate frosting. The texture is also a lot different. It's not stringy Nutella. It's got a softer, peanut butter-like texture.

Word of warning: everything from Zingerman's is fucking expensive. You get what you pay for, though.
