How is it more convenient? You put rice and water in a pot, boil, then simmer on low for 15-20 minutes. You don't even have to fucking watch it. Rice cookers make it even easier. There is no convenience factor involved.

There are room temp stable packs of rice avialbe as well, just microwave and good to go. Being Chinese, this shit is ridiculous to me, but many of my white friends use the,.

I can understand maybe stick rice becuase it requires a day soak and then cooking... but that's really no different than cooking dried beans. Considering how much water weight you're buying when purchasing pre-cooked rice and beans, you might as well just throw you rmoney down the drain.

>> No.5426535

>>5426395
Why would anyone bother not making fresh rice in the microwave?

>> No.5426537

>>5426492
Actually microwaves work really well for some things. For instance let's say some frozen foods, use the microwave oven to defrost it and warm it up a little then finish it off in a pan. It's really not an either or thing.

They're also good for reheating leftover chinese food such as spring rolls or crab rangoons. A pan is best for the main things, but sometimes, it's already in a dish just pop in the microwave and it's done.

The point is GET 'ER DONE! So it is convenient sometimes when used properly and combined with real heat from a pan when that's called for.
