what is this fruit? it looks like the poop form of black berries.

They look like mulberries to me, although I don't often see the long type. Did you buy those? They grow like weeds around here and fruit towards the end of June. I usually pick as many as I can and make wine.

Anyway, 1:1 fruit:sugar, low heat to bring out the juices, mash, simmer, boil until thick. That's the generic recipe for jam.
