Attention kitchen staff:

I've been reshaping my culinary resume to highlight the positives and give a little more flair because I have two blemishes from my last jobs. Yes, I admit I've made mistakes and rash decisions. I am curious, when rewriting a resume do you try to highlight these positions as well? How do you highlight a place where you learn a lot but suddenly walk out in frustration with other employees? I feel like I am cutting myself short by not adding the experiences gained from working in these kitchens.

P.S. My work history is not very long. If I remove one or two positions then I am back at my first jobs from my teens -- odd temporary construction and ditch digging, etc.

So. If I am reading correctly, you have had two kitchen positions, and you walked out on both?

...don't include why you left? If they ask, think of a good/vague excuse? I don't see what the issue is here. It's not like you're going to put that your coworkers were dickheads on your resume

If you really want to know what they'll say, stage a friend or family member with some experience to stage a fake call to them, and get an idea if they are bitchy or not. Itll give you an idea about leaving them off. People have varying feelings about editing a resume. Obviously previous employers of quality will worry about lawsuits and breaking the law and will only confirm dates of hire. If they do more than that, you really messed up or they are really stupid. Find out.

I just shopped a small resume to leave off an employer who always ditches me and cost me a couple jobs I really wanted. I'm sick of it. You can't have worked 5 years somewhere if you sucked. Fact. But, that logic is past whoever is bitter over there with selective memory. Enough. I leave them off now.
