I soaked pinto beans overnight, boiled them in water for 2 hours, and now they are going on hour 3 of cooking in tomatoes, molasses, bourbon, and spices.

Fuck me, they're still not quite soft.

Bad news for you OP.
The market sold you last year's beans. Once they dry out too much no amount of boiling will ever cook them.
Unless you are at high altitude. Then it just takes forever.

Nah I cooked them a few weeks ago for something else in just water, didn't take nearly as long. I'm assuming it's just cooking them in what is basically a barbecue sauce that is making them take this long.

Shouldn't season have seasoned them before boiling, the salt seems to keep them from getting soft. You could try adding a bit of baking soda, the alkalinity helps break down cell walls.

this isn't true. salt doesn't have that effect. season the soaking water and then again when you cook them. makes mo better beans. i usually add baking soda though, and never have problems with getting stiffed by stiff beans
