I regularly eat peanut butter sandwiches. I entered the ingredients into cron-o-meter, and it tells me that four sandwiches is 1450 calories.

Is it fucking with me? This is great news.

Depends on the bread and quantity of PB.
If you're eating a heaped mound on 4 pieces of thick commercial toast bread like people here do then yeah that sounds about right.
PB is so good why must it make me fat :-(

>> No.5219530

Peanut butter is pure fat. Jelly is pure sugar. Avoid both.

>> No.5219546

>>5219530
Raw/natural sugar and plain butter/oil are in the majority of foods. PB/Jelly definitely aren't going to slim you down, but they're not especially bad in this respect. I personally avoid them, but it's not a big deal to have them in moderation if you like them.

If you're North American and are buying "regular" peanut butter (ie. Skippy, Jiffy w/e), that shit has an insane amount of icing sugar in it. If you want to be conscious of what you're eating and you want to eat peanut butter, make sure it's natural with nothing added.

>> No.5219731

peanuts, along with most nuts, are a large proportion of fats and oils.
Simply by consuming that many nuts you're going to be eating a lot of calories.

and regardless of what the other anon says, the calorie difference between natural and store bought peanut butters are negligible

>> No.5219739

>>5219731
but sugar is bad for you regardless and should be limited in your diet. It's already in jelly, so it's pointless to add it to peanut butter.

No it doesn't. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There is very little sugar in peanut butter.

>> No.5219889

>>5219739
Sugar and fat are both necessary in our diets. Excess is a problem in either, peanut butter isn't inherently bad, but it's a very calorie dense food with quite a bit of fat, and it would be easy to eat too much of it. Jelly is pure sugar and basically zero nutritional value which makes it pretty shitty.

And my family still buys it. I can't wait until I reach my monetary goals so I can gtfo of here without peanut butter in the house. It's laced with cocaine or something. I will eat two jars in a sitting.

Go try some peanut butter made without sugar and then taste some skippys, you'll see how much sugar they use.

i'm eating crunchy vegan hazelnut butter with damson jam on wholewheat granary.

it's almost worth going into the crazy wholefood store for. the guy in there stinks of weed and can always smell that i do too, so he hits on me a lot.

i legitimately only buy this one condiment in there, weeks apart, though
i don't like the cheap supermarket kinds or smooth peanut butter, it's just not conducive to the kind of sandwich i like to build. there's nothing appealing about the idea of soft white bread filled with slime, i like something to chew on.

Just compare the ratios instead when the label says "per serving". Peanuts are around 30-50-10 on the protein-fat-carb ratio. Deviations from this ratio means unnecessary shit has been added.

In your example the protein is too low and fats too high. It's probably diluted with hardened vegetable fats and some kind of carb source to give it consistency.
