Why do people smear sauces on their plating, /ck/?

It looks like the restaurant didn't wash their dishes properly. When will this trend finally die?

I think the part thats even more retarded is that shitty looking dishes with the tiny portions in the pic there go for $100 and more in the 'high end' restaurants.

>paying hundreds of dollars for something you're gonna shit out in a few hours anyway
I can at least comprehend prices for wines. Some of that shit is over a hundred years old. I can understand how that would be pricey.
But no meat on this fucking planet is worth hundreds of dollars per plate.

oh shit, I thought it was a dessert on that plate! some kind of chocolate fudge on peanut butter, maybe.

it's a plating technique. i think it looks kind of cool, but the pic you attached is retarded. it looks like the sauce had baby sauce smears. one is enough. or maybe two next to each other with something over the two.

the small portions on fine dining plates are just one course in a multi course menu called a tasting menu. affter 5-12 courses, with drinks, youll be full.

another reason for the price is they quality of ingredients used in the dish

Expensive restaurants are the same as really good wine. You pay a hell of a lot more for higher quality. As long as you feel you get your money's worth, both are as equally justifiable.

$7 at Kroger. Yellowtail is the king of supermarket wines.

What's /ck/'s favorite cheap supermarket wine? $5-15 range per bottle.

Alternatively, what is your favorite bum wine (Night Train/Thunderbird/Wild Irish Rose/MD2020/etc.)?

Yellowtail is shit wine. There is way better wine for that $5-$15 price range. I mean fuck, might as well go cheap and spend the $3 on lucky duck, it's not discernibly worse than yellowtail.

Cheapest wine here in wine-country is 1€. That's about 1.20 US$. Now it's disgusting as fuck, only hobos drink it, and it will give you terrible hangovers, but it's cool when you're a poor student.

The mental image of that pleases me. Mostly because you're right. All of the male waiters I've seen at high end restaurants are all GQ level mother fuckers. Gorgeous model types. I'd get mad about it and say they were only hired for their looks, but that's not fair. They do know what they're doing.

Liquor isn't wine out here.

Beer and wine can be sold without a license (or at least with a less-restrictive license than hard liquor).
