Anyone else find beer to be disgusting? It's usually not bad for the first few sips with steak, but when you actually have to drink a whole glass it's basically just slightly bitter and sour carbonated water. Brown ales are not bad but they are a good standard to start around with. You really cannot go wrong and new castle is tasty.

I've been getting into hard cider recently. Shit's delicious.

As for beer, despite being a white dude, I fucking love Red Stripe. It just tastes really good to me.

My liquor of choice is New Amsterdam gin. It's cheap and I like the taste more than Tanqueray. Though my second favorite would have to be Bombay Sapphire.

Well if you're judging gin by palette then I sympathize. I can distinguish Magellan and Boudier by palette, but not much else.

But I think you have the right instinct, it's really about how it tastes (and smells). I for one find it a little weird when my gin comes in a color other than neutral.

any gin that isn't juniper-forward is anathema to many gin drinkers

i personally don't think New Amsterdam is that bad. it's pretty good for its price and mixes well (though i'd go for Gordon's in the $10-15 range). the main complaint about lack of juniper is not completely accurate. it's fairly noticeable in the aroma and the aftertaste but i think many are put off by the very strong citrus taste when you first sip. it's like a cheap orange hard candy and not entire pleasant imo

at first I didn't get it but really, it's just neutral beer. inoffensive is the best way to put it. it's not good. but it's beer, it is undoubtedly that. it's like eating raw celery. it doesn't taste good, it doesn't really taste like anything, there's not enough flavor in it to offend anybody, is there anyone you know who is violently disgusted by raw celery? it's just something to chew on and swallow that makes you feel less hungry for a little bit.

some people need to get off their high horses here. it's not even about getting drunk, it's just... A beer. if you want a beer, it is factually a beer. if you don't want to drink it, don't buy it, but I find it hard to believe that someone could be so snooty that they can't understand the concept of miller light. I'm having a pint of their hefe weissbier right now. Honestly its not that good. I'm sort of suprised, they suck this beers dick on Beeradvocate.com. Its def drinkable but its got this weird metallic taste to it, like it tastes like somebody dumped a handful of pennies in my drink.

Perfectly good day, its cold as shit outside. They need to stop over exaggerating all this weather though. I've taken off two days in the last week because omg the city is turning into Antarctica and just wasted the days inside drinking beer. There isn't even any ice.

It doesn't taste like ass, its an OK beer. It just tastes mediocre to me. I'm warming up to it the more I sip it, still nothing great though. I get the same reaction with most European beers, I'll take my first couple sips and be like WTF is this shit aftertaste? I don't know if they have different water, hops or what it is but beers from Europe taste different and minerally.

Nah not really. Some of them are full of shit but for the most part its a pretty good indicator of quality. I mean sometimes I love a beer that gets mediocre reviews, and sometimes like today I'd call a beer mediocre that gets amazing reviews.

As a point of reference, most beers on there are rated between 70-85. This one got a 100. And it just isn't that great. I'd give it a 75 or so.

>I am a huge beer nerd too

Excuse me. Try not to take this in the wrong way, but if you self-identify as a "X nerd" and X is something other than comic books, anime, computers, video games, D&D shit, etc, you are not a nerd. You are a douchebag.

There is no such thing as a beer nerd, a car nerd, a Boardwalk Empire nerd, a denim nerd, a football nerd, a date rape nerd, etc.

The same applies to geek. A slut who cannot remember the names of everyone she has slept with cannot put glasses on and suddenly be a geek just because her slut friend affirmed her belief. Neither can a former college athlete now working sell side at a Wall Street firm. He is not an investment geek. Not a style geek. Even if GQ says so. Shit does not work that way.

A bearded shithead who can recite many blogs' worth of trivia about a band no one cares about while sipping artisenal rye whiskey distilled in a once-blighted urban area not commonly associated with producing whiskey let alone anything of commercial value is not, and never can be a "music nerd". An awkward sperg with a useless masters degree who performs early music on period instruments, doesn't enjoy the effect of alcohol, lives alone with three cats, has never gotten laid (or maybe once awkwardly), and is deeply knowledgeable about music theory? That might qualify, but there are conditions.

Please stop raping the English language. Your future cooperation is appreciated.

That is my point. I have this untested theory that the less sex you have the less "cool" you are. If the baddest ass motherfucker goes a long time without sex, they get sort of lame. And the lamest neckbeard having lots of sex gets sort of less lame and more "cool".

Get laid faggot. You aren't enlightened, you aren't thinking rationally. You're a bitter joyless sad sack who is a few steps below being "euphoric" in the neckbeard sense of the word. Thats not a good place to be.

>I got trolled

I was most likely trolled. Still speaking the truth to all you loveless joyless bitter degenerates out there who actually think like that.

Thanks for telling me that 9 years is too long. Unlike the rampant abuse of words like "nerd" and "geek" because they make you "more cool" (according to your untested theory), most people don't realize that sex is something people want. It takes a lot of courage to kick a man when he's down, especially anonymously over the internet. You sound like a great guy and I hope to learn more from you.
