Are YOU a flan fan?

I like real flan. I hate the crude caribbean flans that I get in my neighborhood restaurants.

That looks more like crème caramel, but yes, it's always been one of my favorite desserts.

I think I have a baby's palate when it comes to textures.

Flan is exactly the same thing, man.

>> No.5124764

I just looked it up, and apparently they are.

It's just that the only crème caramel I think I've had (or flan called by that name) was the one my dad made growing up, and it was much better than any flan I've had since (it was richer, and the sugar cooked darker); I need to get his recipe.

I'm not really sure why OP's pic made me think of crème caramel (probably how dark the top was), aside from the fact that I would devour it right now, and associate that with what it was called when I was growing up.

>> No.5124769

>>5124764

Because op's pic IS creme caramel, the same way that it's flan.

I work at a starbucks and the seasonal drink is the caramel flan latte.

It's disgusting, just like all starbucks drinks and the fatasses who drink them.

Outside of that, I don't like deserts so no thanks.

What, you got something against sand and cactuses?
Trolling aside though, I don't like desserts either. I think people who feel the need to eat sugary shit after a meal are either women or have extremely childish palates.

Yeah I feel you on that one. I try not to judge people too hard for it, I mean tons of people like sugary stuff, but to me it just isn't that good. There are a million different desserts and they all just taste like sugar. Anything sweet like that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The only dessert I've ever really cared for was some napoleons that my dad made. But that was because they were a good balance of the sweetness, richness, and tangy strawberries.

I guess my complaint isn't really the flavor itself, it's just that I think most desserts aren't very balanced and are done in a shitty, cheap way. Like, "Just make it really really rich and sweet and it's five star food!"

I am really a fan of flan. So once I tried a Japanese "Pudding". I thought it looked like flan to me and I really likes flan. I tried it, turns out it was some gellatin-ized fake and tasted like shit in comparison. I then wondered myself: Does the Japanese even know what real flan tastes like? You always see them eat those pre-packaged "Pudding" in animes and shit.

I don't really know what creme caramel is supposed to taste like, as I've only tried this one and the ones I made myself.

NO, because I don't like runny-ass burnt caramel sauce. If you are going to make a caramel sauce it should be thick enough to heavily coat the back of a spoon with a slight golden color; not that burnt boarder jumping sugar water shit.
