5070997 No.5070997 [Reply] [Original]

Since /ck/ is essentially Tumblr now, I'm going to post pictures of food that I've stumbled upon (and wanted to share) throughout the week.

And I expect everyone to be polite because being a big meanie-pants is a violation of global rule 6.

The Extravaganza Burger: pig sauce, fried egg, pork belly, 6oz ground chuck patty and a garlic aioli - The Pig Mobile, Victoria BC.

Never heard it called this, sounds like a western coast thing. I've always heard it called either frito pie or more commonly frito chili pie. The only place i've seen it put directly into the frito bag is at a few highschool football games, it works fine though. I enjoy it most from either one of those fry/nacho boat things or from a normal bowl when at home.

Texas here, from what I understand its everywhere here and fairly common in Louisianna, Oklahoma, and perhaps new mexico. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding its mostly a south central USA thing and isn't done much elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm in Austin and was first introduced to it at school. Wish I could've got the chili recipe, it was tasty.

Another interesting thing is I've never seen those large sour pickles they sell in theaters anywhere else in the US.

This is one brand I've seen along with Rico's.

The Rachel sandwich is a variation on the standard Reuben sandwich, substituting pastrami for the corned beef and coleslaw for the sauerkraut.[6] Other recipes for the Rachel call for turkey instead of corned beef or pastrami.[7][8] In some parts of the United States, especially Michigan, this turkey variant is known as a "Georgia Reuben" or "California Reuben", which sometimes uses barbecue sauce instead of Russian or Thousand Island.

Why do the buns in these burger pictures always look so dry?

Thats a cardinal sin in burgermaking, buns that are too dry and thick. The bun should not be as thick as the burger, at least not the individual slices.

A good bun is soft. I know it needs to have enough substance to not fall apart, but if its too much bread, that just ruins the flavor. The meat should be the main flavor, not the bun.

I've eaten blue cheese with my buffalo wings ever since I was a small child.
The wings usually taste good with or without the blue cheese so I don't see the whole point of arguing about it.
The only reason I prefer eating my wings with blue cheese over eating them plain is that often times I find that when the dressing mixes with the hot sauce they taste better then without the dressing.
If you have to drown the wings in a strong sauce to be able to eat them then perhaps you're eating shitty wings.
