Really simple snacks that even a caveman living alone in a room full of wank-tissues and pop bottles can make.

Toast with a smashed up pickled egg on it. So simple, so fast, so good.

Sometimes you don't need to cook an entire seven course meal.

Beans on toast.

Probably the quickest and cheapest cooked meal in existence.

Where I'm from beans on toast is considered a sensible main meal, not a snack.

No. It's the same thing as Cenovis and they each taste identical to the other.
It tastes like... well... hard to explain (and I'm usually very good at this sort of thing). Ever find some carrots or something in the back fridge that had started to go off? They smell "weird" but not unpleasant? Or onions that have sat too long? Kind of like that combined with sweetly, salty soy sauce (more accurately, kecap manis, if you've ever had that) with a strong overtone taste of the smell of hay in a barn (minus the poo). It can be bitter depending on its age. I find that I prefer to buy small tubes of Cenovis (remember: same thing as vegemite/marmite) over the tubs because I can use it up before it begins to turn bitter. If it begins to go bitter, it develops a flavour similar to old, used coffee grounds, which is very unpleasant.
If you ever try it, do it as the Swiss do:
Spread butter or cheese on toast.
Spread a teaspoon (at most!) of Vegemite/Cenovis/Marmite/whatever in a thin layer.
Drizzle some honey in a zigzag pattern.
Enjoy your salty, sweet, buttery, savoury breakfast.

It sounds horrible. Why do Aussies eat that shit?

Different tastes for different cultural/ethnic groups. My mum's Swiss, so I grew up with Cenovis and like it, but my family in Italy have never heard of the stuff and think it's revolting. Similarly, my cousins like boiled beef tripe thinly sliced as a cold salad dressed with olive oil, garlic, lemon and parsley. To me, it's simply repugnant.
It all depends what you grew up with, really.
