Sup /ck/

First time I have been on this board, I was wondering what the cheapest food is you can live on without starving? Am trying to make massive cutbacks in my life at the moment due to recently being made redundant. Currently getting most of my protein from whey shakes and carbs from rice, any other good suggestions for cheapness? Would like to get down to about £15 a week spending if lucky

Many thanks

Come on /ck/ I thought this would be your area of expertise

Oats, milk, potatoes.

Our expertise is food and cooking, not being cheapskates.

Not really a cheapskate, just been made redundant as my post says, will go back to living normally once I can find employment again, this is just a temporary measure

Lots of rice, bread, pasta and oats. Get a little protein in there once in a while. Don't worry, the carbs won't kill you. I like to carb load and just let my body feed off it all day.

To elaborate - you can literally live off oats, milk and potatoes in appropriate proportions for as long as you want without suffering any nutritional deficiencies that will have notable adverse effects.

You might forget what flavour is though.

Nothing that a little honey, butter and salt/pepper can't fix.

I agree with this anon.

Rice+beans is cheap as fuck if you buy them in bulk, and it's a complete protein. Put some salsa on it or even just salt/pepper and it doesn't taste terrible.

Oats + banana or other cheap fruit works well.

Lentils are also great and very nutritious.

Just make sure to throw in a piece of meat every few days and try to get fruits or veggies every day.

Infographic was spot on about WATER only. No need for anything else liquid, and water is free.

Go to oriental store.
Buy rice.
Buy beans.
Buy a rice cooker.

Spend the rest you have on spices and meats.

Lentil soup. A 2lb bag will make a shit ton but you'll get sick of shitting and farting

Dry beans
Brown rice
Onions
Potatoes
Bacon ends & pieces
Egg noodles
Whole wheat flour

Eat hearty and thus eat cheap.
