So what does /ck/ usually order when choosing off the extensive menu of the euphoric delicacy known as Chinese takeout

I usually go with a general tsao w/ rice with a side order of pot stickers but sometimes go for cashew chicken.

I usually switch between General Tso's chicken with shrimp toast, or General Tso's shrimp with fried dumplings. Pretty good.

>> No.4970135

Usually general tso's chicken or sesame chicken. Sometimes spicy orange beef or mongolian beef. One of the places near my house also makes an awesome BBQ pork lo mein.

I tend to get either fried dumplings or some crab rangoons with it as well.

Szechuan chicken stir fry, dry garlic spareribs, chicken fried rice, chicken balls and an egg roll.

Whenever I move to a new town, I case all of the available chinese restaurants. I used to live literally down a hill from the best one I've found in this city - but had to move for work.

If I can't go to that restaurant, I usually try and try something new each time; but my old standby is chicken fried rice and chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce. I'll roll the balls of deep fried grease around in the sauce, then roll them through the rice and chew at them like that.

I'm so fat.

I find ordering the Mongolian Beef is a pretty good indicator if I'll like anything else on the menu at a Chinese place. Either that, or anything labeled "House Special."

Side dishes include potstickers and some kind of fried rice. BBQ pork fried rice, if they have it.

Bullshit. I was in Singapore a while and it's everywhere, just under a different name. Why would it be called "Singapore noodles" in Singapore? It's like in America, American football is just called 'football' and in China, Chinese food is just called 'food.'
It's called Chinese bee hoon in Singapore, if I'm not mistaken?

I never get takeout by myself; only with either family or friends. My mom and I both love to get takeout from one spot in town that's a bit nicer, and I usually spring for their garlic chicken, which is nice and spicy with steamed veggies. If I'm with friends, we head to the spot that's not quite as nice, but is a lot cheaper and gives you a shitload of food. We generally get a few orders of General's chicken and a few crab rangoons and it pretty much lasts the whole night.

Pretty much all chicken dishes. Pork is tolerable but I avoid shrimp and beef because they're so easy to fuck up and ruin the texture of the meat. Honestly the meat isn't even high on my priorities, vegetables are one of my favorite parts about chinese food but I still want some meat with whatever I'm getting.

safe bets:

orange chicken, beef and broccoli, fried pork+sweet and sour sauce, egg drop soup (my fav) fried rice

Adventurous bets:

egg rolls, cashew chicken, lo mein noodles, sweet and sour soup, wantons

questionable bets:

crystal anything, particularly shrimp, paper/tinfoil wrapped chicken, potstickers/dumplings

Also, what happened to chinese restaurants? I don't see them around anymore? Is it because of 'war with china' or 'hurr durr dont eat noodles/msg/carbs/rice/pork?'

I liked chinese restaurants a lot because they serve tea and hot soups, and have hilarious, but friendly servers

I dislike take out, so so much. Would much rather eat at a buffet. Once me and a room mate ordered takeout and then they started divying up the main courses. I was like oh hell no, cause they ordered something really shit I couldn't eat. Problem was there was only two of us. That strategy would work better had there been more of us, or more main dishes to divide up.

I'm not particularly adventurous when it comes to chinese, but I absolutely LOVE everything I've tried.

I like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, Chicken Lo Mein, and their Chicken Noodle Soup is god tier. It sounds delicious but I've never actually had it.

I never really eat chinese food as I worked in a chinese takeaway for like a year and that slightly put me off the food. I've been craving it a bit more recently for some reason though, but that can usually be dealt with by cooking a quick and easy stir fry.
