I like eggnog and love Southern Comfort, so I'll probably try it. Thanks, OP!

This was my old choice, I upgraded to SoCo. The flavors meld so perfectly you wouldn't know there's booze except for the warm feeling. It's perfect. now, spiced rum is like someone poured battery acid in my drink.

>> No.4953281

It's definitely a tasty combination, OP, but I prefer a bit more of a simple eggnog.

I buy a local brand (Farm Stores) that is incredibly viscous, not thin in the slightest, just ready for the thinning from your alcohol, and oh yea, that doesn't have artificial rum flavoring or nutmeg in it. Unadultered eggy custard flavor, nothing more. To it, I add Barbancourt or Appleton or whatever aged I might be wanting to use that day, and then grate a little nutmeg on top with a microplane.

I like to drink my eggnog is a crystal highball. It's the holidays afterall! And, I need my 1000 calories to feel special.

Anyone ever try using dark (not spiced, dark) rum in their nog? I was thinking about trying this.

Egg nog without alcohol becomes egg nog with alcohol when you put alcohol in it.

Egg nog is supposed to have alcohol in it by default

I suggest mixing rumchata with honey whiskey, it's pretty damn tasty.

You've obviously have been using bum tier spiced rum
Ooor you have terrible tastes and your father/male role model needs to be locked up for not teaching you how to drink proper alcohol.

I tried mixing horchata with kaluha(?)
It takes a little bit to get the right consistensy but when you do, primo stuff.
I'll give your drink a try

imho. quick and honest. southern comfort = youkon jack =creme de menth =midori. stuff to avoid. swear to god. bozze doesnt last long 'round here but think there is some sloe gin, thunderbird and a can of keystone you can have all three.I would not say I'd never drink southern comfort, but I would not buy it. ok if you like high proof cough syrup ( think vicks 44, robitissin tastes good by comparison)

Not sure about your area, but eggnog is a seasonal beverage in mine. Indulging once a year does not a diabetic make.

I used Captain Morgan spiced rum because I know a guy who brings a bottle to my holiday party every year.

Is that bum tier?

eggnog's already got brandy and rum in it, any more booze would curdle the dairy.

Had a decent amount of that combination last year at a thanksgiving party, surprised I didn't get sick really, especially considering a few buddies tried to go epic meal time on the turkey and it had bacon stuck randomly to it.

The host ended up at one point half in a bathtub puking. I guess I can't recommend gas station homebrew.

I guess /ck/ is full of liquor snobs who can't accept any drink that doesn't make people with jobs grimace with revulsion at every sip. Embrace the SoCo eggnog friends, Jesus wants you to have tasty drinks for his birthday.
