What are you drinking tonight? I'll be partaking in the soothing warmth of Jameson on the rocks.

I picked up a 5th of this today. I don't know if I'm going to drink any tonight because I'm tired already and it's only 6:40 but it looked interesting and I intended to get some Jameson to try but the liquor store was out of 5ths. I'll probably end up taking a nap then waking up later to drink a few lonely glasses by myself in front of my computer.

How is Jameson? I've only had Michael Collins and Bushmills. I usually drink American or scotch whiskey but I was feeling especially Irish today.

Jameson is pretty good whiskey that won't break the bank. It's got a nice rich flavor and now I favor it over Crown Royal. I've only had Bushmills once a long time ago so I can't compare. Never had Tullamore Dew.

Can be amazing, but too many people dismiss it because they associate bourbon with shit-tier mixers like Jim Beam.

I'm having some bourbon tonight as well- sipping a nice glass of Bookers at present. Cask strength whiskey is always a plus.

I ended up drinking about 300ml last night and I've had about 100ml so far this morning. It is easy to sip and I'd say pretty good considering I'm drinking it at room temperature out of a plastic measuring cup. I'm used to the harsh bite of bourbon which is usually too much for me to handle at room temp because I usually by cheap stuff.

I moved to a new flat about a month ago. BT had an offer where if you signed up online, they sent you a £100 Sainsburys gift card.

This whole thing went on alcohol, naturally.
The wife picked Southern Comfort and a Tia Maria. I bought a Grants and a Glenfiddich. Also a Jack Daniels for both of us.

Go to Sainburys, they have some fucking crazy offers. The Jack D was £25 for the LITRE. Southern Comfort was £14 as well as the Tia Maria. The Grants was £17, cheaper than Sainsburys own BLENDED scotch. (fucking CRAZY)

Also, there's a new Whisky shop in Manchester. In Deansgate. I joined their club. Free tastes and all. Dude gave us both a Sample of a £70 whisky. Fucking delicious, but not strong enough for me. If you are in the area, dress sharply and go have a look. Dudes are awesome.

Do british people actually think Jack Daniels is an example of good American Whiskey?

>> No.4884470

>>4884454
No, that's why we only buy it for mixing.

I never drink it neat, but I find it delicious with coke.
It's rubbish enough to mix, but not nice enough to drink on its own.

I am very aware there probably is a huge amount of nice bourbons though, not bothered to try. Scotch fills my needs and there is plenty of variety here.

Considering how cheap it is, Tullamore Dew is amazing. I used to drink it in college when I couldn't afford better, everything else in that price class is horrendous. Of course, you can find much, much better, but who cares when you pay <20$?

For me, it's Gordon's tonight, only thing I have left atm.

that's probably the problem; here in the US, jack daniels prices itself out of the market when there are great bourbons for literally half the price, so it's impossible to overlook how awful it is

I got it for $20, it was marked down from $25. J&B was a few dollars more and I've never tried it but I was in the mood for Irish Whiskey not Scotch. I've gone though 3/4ths of the bottle over the past 18 hours and I'd say it's pretty good but honestly I won't buy it often. I rarely spend more than $16 on a bottle of liquor but I'm a college student and drink cheap shit most of the time.

I can get whiskey I really less than $20 a bottle, I could never justify paying $20 or over for a bottle of Jack.

Do you mean the actual bourbon Jim Beam, because Beam makes some of the best bourbons around including bookers. Regular old jim beam isn't half bad either.

>> No.4885865

>>4885861
Regular Jim Beam. I agree that some of the stuff they put out (Bookers and Basil Haydens for example) are really good, but associating bourbon with standard JB is like associating scotch with Johnnie Walker Red.
