I did find a store near here with 18 year old Laphroaig though! I'm gonna pick up a bottle eventually but looking for some celebratory reason vice just buying it and drinking a glass every day.

I drink some of them, but they are mostly just for prestige.

I do not think I will sell them, unless they greatly increase in value, but that will be many years in the future.

The rarest/most expensive bottle I got are:
30 Year Old Port Ellen from 1982
20 Year Old Rare Malts Selection Coal Ila from 1975 (Opened)
30 Year Old Balvenie
4 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle 20 (1 opened)
The Dalmore Cromartie (Opened)
Ardbeg Supernova
Ardbeg Galileo
Ardbeg Alligator x2 (1 opened)
Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist (Opened)
Mackmyra Preludium 01

And of course, the St. Magdalene.

Anyone this self-congratulatory and conceited is perfectly suited to blogging.

After some googling, I found the St. Magdalene is very hard to come by, and the one price I found was around 550 euros.

This thread makes me feel bad I don't really like whiskey. How can I learn to appreciate it? Got two bottles of Glenfiddich 12 here.

>> No.4876771

>>4876765
Glenfiddich 12 is not really a good starters whisky. It's very muddled and not very refined. IN MY OPINION.

Some slightly more expensive stuff like Highland Park 12 or anything from Old Pulteney is fantastic. Check out Ralfystuff on youtube. He has some great beginner guides to whisky.

But don't force yourself into it. If you don't like whisky, then too bad.

And yes, St. Magdalene is extremely fucking rare. That's why I was so happy to get the winning bid at the auction.

He does. My dad always told mixing whiskey with water is murdering good whiskey, and I should never ever add more than a drop. Took this 'drop' very literal. Also, I was always drinking from straight glasses.

Gonna pour myself a glass tonight, I think.

>> No.4876835

>>4876825
Funnily enough, the St Magdalene says to add 2 parts water to 1 part scotch. Presumably, this is because it is cask strength, but 2 to 1 is way too much.

Depending on the scotch, I usually add about 1-3 teaspoons.

Also, I cannot recommend a glencairn glass or a Riedel Cognac glass enough. Makes a world of difference.
