I knew/know someone with bipolar disorder. He's really damn friendly and full of energy one week, to the point where it's almost annoying, and can't do anything the other week because he's too depressed. Generally, they're not very reliable, so I'm not sure how he would've fared in a professional kitchen environment.

I know a few people with mental disorders. Obviously they have something going on in the physical sense, but they go through changing diagnoses and trial-and-error medications that basically fucks them up even more.

If you think it is a respectable science you are delusional and stuck on an appeal to authority figures. Maybe in 30 years it will be, but not now.

Scientology tries to convince people that mental issues aren't "real" in order to exploit them and take advantage of mentally sick people. That is why they often publish articles about how mental sicknesses aren't real under different aliases.

Many of the articles you've posted contain logical fallacies and basic statistical mistakes like confusing correlation with causation, which makes them even less of a science than what you claim psychiatry is.

While it is certain that money is a factor, a good psychiatrist (of which I've seen many) won't make you take meds unless he thinks it may help with the treatment.

Furthermore, I don't see how it is "at the expense of people's health". Drugs aren't the sole treatment for mental issues, it is accompanied by therapy sessions. Plus, all drugs are tested by your countries respective administration to confirm that they do not have unknown side-effects.

Personally, I don't agree with feeding children mindlessly with Ritalin/Adderall either, but the disorders that are treated with those drugs are very real, but often misdiagnosed by doctors inexperienced in the field of psychiatry.

Please do not deduce from some cases that all of it is invalid, as outlawing such drugs through a knee-jerk reaction will hurt real people.
