A stand-alone LJS is about to open just down the road from me, within the week.

Should I go there or avoid it?

Its extremely greasy fried food. Eh, its ok although I only go a few times a year for nostalgia. I do recomend the onion rings, some ofthe best imo.

Water is a chemical.

Show me a double blind peer reviewed study that shows that Long John Silvers is in any way distinguishable from fancy elite McCormick & Schmicks. Protip: you can't.

I used to work at LJS (combined with an A&W)
The fish arrived in large lightly floured slabs about 4 feet long with perforations to be separated into the appropriate symmetrical pieces. My coworkers and I would routinely have swordfights with the fish slabs.
The place was the greasiest place I had ever encountered. Within a month, my car's floormats were permanently stained black from the sheer amount of grease that accumulated every day. Even with a good cleaning every night, by 3 or 4 PM the floor in the kitchen and behind the counter would be filthy again. We would have to put like 8oz of concentrated degreaser in our water for when we did the floors. I would often slip in the parking lot after my shift because of how slicked up my shoes were. The entire LJS segment of the restaurant was just 1m x 1m slabs of lard and a complete oil-fest.
The A&W side was better, since it was just a higher-class burger joint that accumulated hardly any oils at all.

At any rate, if you do end up going to it, ask for a thing of Krums. They take the hard crispy parts that become detached from the fish and give them to you for free. Only saving grace of an otherwise mildly mediocre establishment.

All the LJS around me shut down so I haven't been to one in a while, but it used to be solid. They tended to have fewer items, but the focus was on good taste, not variety. Get yourself a sampler so you can try everything.

Can't speak about the onion rings. They didn't have those last time I was there.

I went for the first time the other day. I got a clam strip dinner or basket or whatever they call it. When I got into my car with the food, it made everything smell like fried fish. All the food smelled slightly fishy. It didn't taste too bad, but about 45 minutes after eating I got a stomach ache and took a nap to sleep it off.

>home made mayo

>lemon juice & zest
>pinch of salt

anything more than that is unnecessary and less is just lazy

That's several ingredients right there. I certainly hope you raised your own chickens and pressed your own oil, ground your own mustard, etc.

Not to mention growing your own cucumbers so you can make your own pickles, harvesting your capers at the right time so you can pickle them, growing your own onions and lemons.

Oh, and you should probably harvest your own salt too, just to be safe.

Nah, I just use store bought pickles, store bought mayo, onion, horseradish, bit of lemon juice or vinegar, and bell pepper. But all food is divisible. I eat whatever, but I know what all the additives I eat are for, because I'm informed, not paranoid.

I certainly hope you
>raised your own chickens
yep
>and pressed your own oil
you can buy pure oils that have zero preservatives/additions

>ground your own mustard
I do. People own things called "spice grinders" these days. It's nuts I know

>growing your own cucumbers so you can make your own pickles
yep on both counts

>harvesting your capers at the right time so you can pickle them
Local co-op grocery gets them from Morocco with nothing but capers, spring water, and salt

>growing your own onions and lemons
Yes to onions, lemons from the co-op

>harvest your own salt
I buy it in blocks from France and use my mystical "spice grinder"

Try again shit tier garbage gut. Just because you love eating preservative chemicals and can't be bothered to prepare anything but a hot pocket doesn't mean we all share your laziness. Fuck off.

2 acres provides enough room for a coop and a large garden that can feed 2 adults and 2 children. Hunting and fishing can supplement protein and gets you into the wilderness for a day. If you're a pussy and can't stand things like icky poopoo guts then there are businesses that will process the carcass for you. Drop a pair and learn how to feed yourself.

This allows me to do thinks like hunt when I want to, not because I have to and grow a garden because I want to, not because I have to--which you cutely implied that I do neither.

I can confirm this. We serviced about 5-6 LJS stores once (replacing the mechanical locks w/ electronic ones on their safes) in our area. That floor was the single nastiest fucking place I've ever seen. The amount of shit that accumulated around the safe was incredible; it had also began to eat away at the paint and in some places began to rust the metal.

I have no appetite for LJS because of it. The store managers probably thought I was an asshole by declining free meals after we did the work.
