hey /ck/, have you or would you ever eat roadkill?

if you have eaten roadkill what were the circumstances?
were you starving?
was the meat "fresh" or did you find it by smell?

nope. too high of a chance of the meat being contaminated by burst organs/glands.

I've had deer that were hit by a relative's truck. 2 in the same day. He borrowed the truck and on his return (15 minute drive) he hit two buck's. I butchered them and simply tossed out the bruised meat.

The only drawback was that those were bucks taken out of season and they stank like musk and their meat stank like musk. I made jerky out of everything which got rid of the musk.

I think deer and similar large animals are the only things I'd eat as road kill and only if I saw it happen or it was within x amount of time. Otherwise this >>4816802

Roadkill, every state I've been in, has meant pancaked or otherwise gibbed. So, yeah if you see it/hit it then it's basically safe given basic care. If it's already dead when I pass it by, bye bye.

I saw a really cool mini documentary on the Vice website called "the man who eats roadkill" It was actually really good. You should give it a watch!

I hunt and butcher my own animals, but that thread was just horrific for some reason.

What's the matter, /ck/? Never seen mangled roadkill draining in a bathtub?

I hit a grouse once while driving home. Somebody there had experience enough to dress the critter. I cooked & ate the meaty parts later on.

No, I think it was more the relatively unsanitary butchering conditions. It was almost like watching the Merrill Howard Kalin show.

if you're willing to wash your body in your tub every day you should be willing to butcher meat in it

Grouse are the only things I've eaten that I've hit, although I would definitely eat a deer if I ever hit one.

I hunt so dressing and butchering an animal doesn't bother me, but the animal would have to be hit in front of me or still alive before I would consider eating it. It would have to be very fresh, in other words.

No, it was more how the butchering was done, not the surfaces specifically. Although, taking a shower is not at all the same thing as eating food that's been in it. Why even bring that up? It that really something you thought was a good point are are you just making a joke?

Any three-dimensional construct in our reality consists of surfaces, including knives, bathtubs, counters, etc.

You can't escape this, don't be a germaphobe.
