What's up /ck/, I'm in need of some help. I decided to throw a fall get-together party with some friends. I plan on having chili and I hope a grilled cheese bar. I already have a chili recipe, but what are some ideas for a grilled cheese bar? I've found some tips online, but just thought I'd check in here to see what you guys have to say. There will be one or two picky eaters, but the rest are pretty adventurous food wise and enjoy trying different combinations. Thanks for any help. Ideas for breads, meats, cheeses, and other toppings are welcome.

As for the grilled cheese bar, I don't know how elaborate you plan on getting but you're gonna want at least a couple types of cheese, bread and extras.
I was thinking of writing a list of things I thought would be good, but there's so many different things you could do. I'd just go to the store and grab any type of cheese that melts well, hell even cheese that doesn't melt well could be worth a shot. Smoked cheese, blue chesse, swiss cheese, just a bit of everything. Then I'd raid the produce section, pretty much any and all vegetables would work.

Just make sure you have extra cheese graters, frying pans and stove space

Question. What kinds of beans and chili peppers will you be using for your chili?

>> No.4773259

>>4773204
Oh shut the fuck up about the beans type of chili.

>> No.4773266

>>4773259
Well he's got a point. If you are making a chili that will go with some other carb, you probably want a chili lacking in heavy starches like beans.

Bean chili is good as a stand alone meal, meanwhile beanless chili can be worked as a nice side dish without filling up everyone before they finish their grilled cheese.

Thanks for the tips. And I was planning on having a chili without beans and one with.

lel That's maple/pancake syrup and I prefer it on the side not doused over the sandwich like that.

OP you absolutely must make some inside-out grilled cheese, Chef John style. This is the only way to enjoy grilled cheese.

My favorite is cheddar and muenster with prosciutto. Whatever you do, as long as you saturate the bread with enough butter you'll be fine(unless you use american, then you'll be fucked)
