Nightly Vegan Thread. Tonight I was busy with entertaining for my omnivore friends, so I just spread some peanut butter on some bananas. For my friends, I just bought them some take-out Chinese.

Pic related, it's one of my go-to Vegan quick foods. It's filling as fuck and very tasty.

>all those cal/carb
I used to make fun of you guys, but the keto must be getting to me.
I recommend shirataki noodles if you haven't had them already. They're vegan, and they're all fiber, which makes them more filling than your sandwich.

What did you eat today, vegan?

Why would you eat food to not get energy? That's what food is for

Because you're fat.

No, I'm actually a normal weight if even underweight, which is why I'm not afraid of calories. Fat people are afraid of calories because they're fat and need to lose weight. When I eat a meal, I expect energy and vitamins and minerals from it

This one actually probably isn't vegan if you're just getting it from a random google search. Most batter has egg in it

I've been trying to eat less animal products, but considering carby foods make my IBS worse, my diet really sucks...

>> No.4742368

>>4742358

It was probably animal products that gave you IBS in the first place. Just eat leafy grains, beans, grains like oats and brown rice, and apples

>> No.4742378

>>4742368
How can animal products give you IBS?

And that's basically what I eat except beans (very calorie dense and give me gas) and can't have apples cause allergic.

I still have a lot of eggs and some tuna, because I find it almost impossible to get my daily protein intake otherwise.

>> No.4742391

>>4742378

http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/trigger2.asp

All the fat they contain and inflammation they cause can wreck your intestines

You should be able to easily get enough protein without eggs and tuna though. Any kind of grain or potato are great for protein and are low in fat

>> No.4742397

>>4742391

Yup, also animal fats for people with MS tend to be no bueno.

>> No.4742407

>>4742391
That's so weird, usually dairy, gluten and carby foods trigger me, so I avoid grains, and I only eat potatoes once a week or so.

Plus I'd have to eat 20 potatoes to get enough protein for the day .__.

>> No.4742416

>>4742407

If both fat and carbs trigger you, your diet would have to be protein powder with a multivitamin

>> No.4742430

>>4742416
Fat is fine, it's just dairy that upsets my stomach, which isn't surprising cause lactose is a fodmap and it's not recommended for people with IBS.

>> No.4742431

>>4742430

to be honest, lactose isn't recommended for any adult human

>> No.4742445

>>4742431
That's cause most of the world's population is lactose intolerant. However, among some ethnicities people who are lactose intolerant barely exist.

>> No.4742449

>>4742445
those "some ethnicities" are pretty much, well, white people though
and even there this isnt strictly true, people of all ethnicities get progressively more "lactose intolerant" (lactose tolerance not an either-or thing, its a matter of degree) as they grow older

>> No.4742458

>>4742449
That's the thing though, some people have a "lactase persistance" gene so they don't.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactase_persistence

>> No.4742463

>>4742449
Anyways, my point was, there are very little protein-packed things I can eat because of IBS, so avoiding animal products is hard.

Plus, I'm watching my weight and most vegan proteins are much higher in calorie than animal proteins.

I had a rice salad with peas, pepper, green beans, carrots and veganaise, and some millet croquettes

>>4742285

Yesterday I made a dish in bulk, ate it 2 times already. Here is the dish:
Take one microwaveable container(I took pasta maker), add brown rice, water, soy meat(dehydrated), frozen veggies(broccoli, carrot, peas, corn, tomatoes, bell peppers, anything), spices, herbs and msg to taste, microwave it untill rice is soft. Cheap and nutritious dish is ready. For full nutrition eat with ketchup, mayo, cottage cheese, multigrain bread. I made about 4-5 meals.

>>4742963
Didnt mention: add any oil for taste, I used sunflower

>> No.4742975

>>4742963
Why do it on the microwave?

>> No.4742977

>>4742975
I think it can be done on a stove in a pot too, I did in the microwave. And I store it in the fridge in the same container I cooked it.

>> No.4742983

I'm neither vegan nor vegetarian, but was wondering what some options for savoury vegany sandwiches are? I'm not really a fan of meat/ cheese heavy sandwiches.

>> No.4742990

>>4742983
Options for sandwiches:
peanut butter, jam, tomato, bell pepper, banana, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, herbs, noney, carrot, olives, hot peppers, onion, garlic, cucumber, pickles, butter and other spreads. Bread plays important role. Try combinations of ingredients, try different sizes and forms of ingredients.

this thread is a fucking disaster

reminds me of this fat vegan I knew who prided himself on eating multiple bananas and fistfuls of dates every day because they were 'the most calorie dense food for vegans'

I'm not a vegan (have a poor view of veganism as an athlete actually), but I'm pretty sure that's not even true.

I would think the most calorie dense food would be avocados or some form of coconut product. Coconut oil/butter/milk is extremely calorie dense.
