Anyone ever had these fucking meatballs from IKEA? I've heard so many people go on about how good they are and I find it really bizarre people are buying frozen meatballs from a cheap-ass furniture store. So bizarre I actually went there and bought a bag today. Along with the recommended gravy, frozen red mashed potatoes, and this lingon berry sauce stuff. Haven't cooked it yet but I'm looking forward to it out of sheer curiosity.

Anyway, wondering if buying meatballs at this IKEA place is a normal thing or if my friends and acquaintances are fucking retarded. I'll let you guys know what I think if this is still up, I plan on "cooking" the balls, sauce, and potatoes tomorrow. I may pop two or three in the microwave later just to see, I'm very curious.

Also, they had a surprisingly OK looking food court/cafe. Other than the meatball plate I've heard about they had a handfull of other things that actually looked and sounded bretty good. And it was all cheap. I'm tempted to swing by for lunch this week, I work nearby. Whats going on here? How is this stuff.

>> No.4709618

It's not a revelation, but they're pretty good. Most people haven't eaten much Swedish food so it sort of functions as a form of culture promotion as well.

Yea, they had a whole section of Swedish foods and stuff, I found it very strange. They had those salmon roe things in the toothpaste tubes that I've seen posted here, I almost got one. They also had a whole row of refrigerated jars of preserved herring and shit in different sauces. I'll look around more next time I'm there, I really just wanted to try some meatballs and it was very busy, my anxiety was beginning to be too much to bear. Any essential swiss shit I need to try other than the meatballs?

Im Danish and my girlfriend often drag me to IKEA. To be honest, the meatballs is no diffrent from a danish dish, but its cheap as fuck and a decent meal.
Its not the best in the world, but for the price and the selection they have, its pretty darn' good.. Also, coat those damn meatballs in the berry sauce.

>> No.4710390

I eat them in the cafeteria when ever I go there, they are a cheap lunch and pretty good, like $4 for a whole bunch of meatballs with potatoes and sauce and the jam

I always grab some of the jam on the way out, I have bought the meatballs and gravy which I cooked at home and they were pretty much the same as in the cafeteria.
just make sure you are really hungry because there are a lot of meatballs in that bag, I managed to work my way through the whole thing but I was really pushing myself to the limit

I serve food in the "restaurant" part-time, and most of the menu is actually decent. If you live in Norway, working in IKEA Food is one of the best places to work that kind of job. Lots of events and going out trips payed by IKEA, pay is pretty good compared to other part-time jobs (I get $25/h weekdays, $29/h saturdays), discount on everything and free food for workers.

Has anyone noticed that whenever the concept of meatballs from Sweden is brought up, someone will always say, in a ridiculous accent, "svedish meatballs!". With no context or anything, not like a sentence, just those words, in that accent, as an entire statement on its own.

It's utterly retarded. I don't understand it. It's like whenever Jack Nicholson or The Shining are brought up, someone will always say "heeeeere's Johnny!". Without fail. Why do people do this? Why is it so utterly ubiquitous? Neither of them are funny. And yet in both cases, someone will ALWAYS do it. It's like a compulsion, like you can't bring these things up without acknowledging the 'joke' that everyone is expecting to come with it.

They got that in american ikeas? Here in Sweden we've pretty much only got meatballs and veggie pizzas. But the herring is absolutely delicious. Eat them with just boiled potatoes.

And, yeah, Ikea meals are decent enough, espcially for the price. Average diner quality.

I got home starving from work a little while ago though and saw them in the fridge, I couldn't resist. Plopped six or eight on a couple paper towels and nuked them til hot all the way through. Instead of making that gravy I just dipped them in that lingon berry stuff they gave me. The meatballs were good! The lingon berries were awesome on them. Do you guys prefer them w the gravy or the berries? Maybe you mix them?

It's pure trash. As a matter of fact, that's where most IKEA furniture ends up, that's the main advantage of it, it's disposable. You can furnish a room rather well for $1,000.00.

It's disposable furniture, but some people...it's all they have, and it's in fact quite OK. I have IKEA furniture myself. If I can, I won't buy IKEA furniture again, but it might be some time before I get to buy real furniture.

I know where to buy it, now, though, assuming I remain in this city. Last time I bought furniture for my whole place I had such a hard time finding pieces.
